HOW TO PRAY THE NEWS We are bombarded with news on television, on our phones, in the car, and on social media. How can we pray for the news that we hear with a kingdom-minded focus? An Intercessors for America Prayer Guide SEEK GOD'S PERSPECTIVE What would God's view be of the news you are hearing? We can tell by His Word and His character what His principles are- -how do they apply? Ask God to reveal His heart about the news you are reviewing. Consider Psalm 119:105. ASK GOD FOR TRUTH Much of what we see or hear is based on bias and filters. Ask God for the truth of the issue you are hearing about. We can always pray that the truth would be known--that is the simplest and most universal prayer we can pray. Consider John 8:32. PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE Pray for the people involved in the issue or news. Lift up all involved, that they would have wisdom and revelation from God. Consider Proverbs 29:18. FOLLOW AN ISSUE There are issues that tend to touch us more than others--pro-life, LGBT indoctrination in our schools, human trafficking--what touches you? That interest may be a prayer burden from the Lord. Consider James 5:16-17. PRAY FOR DISCERNMENT Often the issues are more complicated than the news media portrays. Ask God for discernment as you read--seek to understand what is really happening and if there is a hidden agenda at play. Consider 1 Corinthians 2:14. 800-USA-PRAY IFApray.org https://www.ifapray.org/promo/news/ C H O O S E H O P E , N O T A N G E R The news can be full of hope-stealing stories. Yes, the world is fallen. But we can have hope in Christ--He is bigger than any issue our nation is facing. Often the people that anger us really need Jesus. Consider Colossians 1:27.
