Team Four Unipod This particular Unipod has been has been designed so it can be rotated and used in two configurations, allowing designers flexibility to incorporate into either an ensuite or a shared bathroom - entered from a bedroom or hallway. This is to increase it's possible applications.

Thought has been given to how the Unipod will interact with the surrounding dwelling. This includes proximity to the hot water cylinder and kitchen to save on hot water and plumbing costs. An appropriate size to 'fit' next to bedroom to work with a dwelling design that can 'wrap around' in social housing, retirement and multi-unit markets. Insulation is higher R than building code in all NZ districts. How it is 'picked up' and transported.

Robust materials have been used to ensure quality is maintained from the factory floor, during transportation and for many years in the dwelling.

Features include:Beautiful universally designed vanity that won't need to be replaced for anyone with deferent needsSteel frame base with concrete placed floor ('Speedfloor'). Metrapanel walls and ceiling - handrails can be put anywhere at a later date.Kessel channel compact shower drain - allows a gentle single slope direction wet area. Black pearl insulation - that won't move or 'sag' this coupled with Metrapanel provides a 2.4 R wall - over specification in most of NZ regions. All Lifemark Standards achieved.

All the above products have many years of proven track records in prefabricated buildings and combined will achieve a very good product.

Suppliers of the above, people with disabilities and a reputable retirement village designer have all been consulted with while developing this concept. They have provided feedback that has been included in this design.

Thank you for this opportunity, we are truly excited by this project.

The Unipod is designed to slot into a rebate boxed out at time of pouring the concrete floor.

Framing 'wraps' around the Unipod providing a 'conduit' between the Unipod and the rest of the dwelling. Within framing cavity sliders, door frames and services can exist to 'link' the Unipod with the dwelling.

SpeedFloorThe base is a 'Speedfloor' steel rolled and welded frame. The mesh is supported in the frame and wet area floor is boxed out.

The base is then turned upside down and 80mm concrete floor poured. When dry - the floor is uprighted and the wet area floor is shaped.

Speedfloor have advised a channel could be rolled to 'receive' the Metrapanel as part of the frame base.

Standard Building Code construction and supplier direction is used to build the rest of the Unipod.
