Tips:• Call early• Ask if it’s a good time• Keep Control – Call back vs. leave message• Have a script
Informational Interviews What:
• Appointment that you schedule with a particular individual in your field of interest
Why:• Gain current, regional, and/or specialized
information from an "insider" point of view• Learn about career options, job duties, and
develop a network in your field Who:
• Family, friends, alumni, and referrals Steps:
• Researching company and person• Prepare target speech and questions • Dress professionally, update resume
How:• Build Rapport, show interest, don’t ask for a job• Send a thank you note
Emailed Resumes or Upload to Website
• Attach document as a Word document named: firstname_lastname.doc
• Send an E-Cover Letter in the email text. This should be similar to a regular cover letter, but briefer.
• Tell them your resume is attached.
• Always view your document. Sometimes formatting changes.
