1 PROBUS ASSOCIATION OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA INC President’s Report Greetings Everyone The Probus year has commenced with a busy schedule of visits and three information days. Both the Metropolitan South of the River and South West days had over 70 in attendance and the Great Southern over 20. Evaluations received from all three days indicated that the information provided was of benefit to those that attended and the fellowship with other Probians was most enjoyable. The Association Committee is now looking at the best ways in which we can undertake the next outcome of the Strategic Planning Strategy carried out last year. Membership growth is of paramount importance to most clubs and to this extent the Association has appointed Jim Ward of Ward Holt Management to assist us in developing a strategy in the hope that additional members will be recruited for those clubs who are currently struggling to maintain or increase membership. In addition to this a Committee has been formed to organise the Associations 30 th Birthday Celebrations. This event will be held in Mandurah on the 11 th September this year. Please consider arranging your club outing for September on this date and have an enjoyable day mixing with other Probus Club Members on the trip to and from Mandurah and during the arranged activities to be announced shortly. Until next month enjoy Probus and all it has to offer. Graeme [email protected] TABLE OF CONTENTS THIS EDITION. SOUTH WEST INFORMATION DAY A SUCCESS The last few weeks have been busy culminating in a very successful South West Infor-mation and Friendship day at the Parade Hotel in Bunbury on Thursday 15th May. Thanks to my assistant host clubs for the day Bunbury Men's and Bunbury Ladies Probus Clubs for their help. About 70 local Probians attended and along with PAWA presenters and Sponsors repre-sentatives, 79 enjoyed a finger food lunch. After lunch six work shops were held covering the main portfolios These were chaired and mentored by Graeme Brown (Presidents), Winston Marsh (Membership), Fairley Watson (Secretaries), Rhonda Johns (Treasurer), Don Faulks (Outings and Programmes) and Enid Holt (Newsletters and using Publisher). Thanks to all the presenters for their support Thanks also to the 15 clubs that participated. Only two clubs were unable to attend and we hope they can join us next year ,as even long term committee people admitted they learned a lot and had appreciated the opportunity to update their information. New office holders appreciated the chance to find out more about their organization and their jobs. SOUTHWEST GET TOGETHER At the information day, Gerry Mallot , President of South Bunbury Probus Club spoke about the South West Get Together 2014 that his club is hosting at the Dardanup Heritage Park on Tuesday October 14th. They are planning a fun day and are hoping for a big attendance. Ian Clarke from Bunbury Probus Club is a Volunteer at the park and described some of the many attractions attendees will see, even if you have been to the park before there is still plenty to enjoy. Full details will be sent out to all clubs shortly and we urge as many South West Probians (and others if they wish), to attend as possible. Once again we have some wonderful sponsors who contribute towards keeping costs as low as possible. Some clubs may consider making this Get Together their outing for the month. Our main sponsors to date are Villa Carlotta who are PAWA main sponsors and RSM Bird Cameron and Archer and Sons who have strongly supported our South West activi-ties for the last 3 years. Gerry is always looking for more sponsorship support. If you know of any business that may be interested in being a Probus sponsor for the Get Together please contact myself 97711446 [email protected]: or Gerry 97216428 [email protected]. NEWS FLASH We hope we can announce a new Probus Club in the South West in Bridgetown. A formation meeting is being held in Bridgetown on Tuesday 27th May. By the time you read this I hope it will be a fait accompli and we will have Bridgetown Probus club for the entire Blackwood valley area. If you know anyone in that area that would enjoy Probus let me know or ring Barbara Johnson in Bridgetown on 0419927781. That’s all for now. Don Faulks PAWA South West Representative.2014-2015.

Over the past couple months I have had the pleasure of visiting both Narrogin and the Probus Club of Albany to present 20th year and 30th year respectively Anniversary Certificates. The reception at both clubs was excellent, as usual, with large attendances by members.

More recently, the Combined Probus Club of Albany hosted the Information Day for 2014. Attendances were down, however there was a representation from all clubs in Albany and Denmark. Thank you to all who attended a most informative day. Graeme Brown (President of PAWA) and Winston Marsh (RDPC) were both in attendance and presented an abundance of very informative information. Feedback received was very positive with members seeking more information. Thanks to Graeme and Winston for making the long journey via

Bunbury to do presentations.

Whilst in town Graeme and Winston also attended a meeting with Bill Ginbey, Mo Mullholland from the Denmark club and myself to explore the commencement of a second Probus Club in Denmark. Further meeting have been scheduled for September. Graham Kirkwood Great Southern Probus Regional Representative Email: [email protected]
