Gazette Newspapers increases its reach by over 10% yet again

Jul-Dec 2010

41,653 papers each weekGazette Newspapers has strengthened its position in the local Dublin market, with the announcement that it has grown to its highest number yet with 41,653 copies per week.

New figures released from the Audit Bureau of Circulation today 17 February show that the Gazette Group has grown the July-Dec figures by a whopping 3,828 copies per week. When compared with the like for like period of July-Dec 2009, that’s an increase of 10.1%. When compared to the first half ABC report of 2010 reach was increased by 1,295 copies per week, an increase of 3.1%.

“This is a fantastic achievement – another double digit increase,” says Liam Holland, managing director of Gazette, “particularly when the same report shows that most other newspapers, including national daily, evening, Sundays and weeklies, free and indeed paid for titles all experienced a decline in circulation’’.

“We are delighted with the increased coverage we have achieved which demonstrates that there is a strong appetite for quality local news and sports coverage,” and it shows that our investment in coverage in these areas is paying off says Holland.

“The eight Gazette titles – in Blanchardstown, Castleknock, Clondalkin, Dundrum, Dun Laoghaire, Lucan, Malahide and Swords are only distributed through a network of over 180 ‘self-select’ locations in major stores, shopping centres, local newsagents, schools and sporting and social clubs. Unlike other free newspapers we do not push Gazettes through letterboxes.

“This means that we deliver a relevant product to loyal readers, which is as close as you will get to the loyalty of a ‘paid for’ title, which is very good news for advertisers as this indicates our readership has increased by 3.2% to 145,785*,” Holland concluded.Ends/
