Inauguration of Collina Degli ElfiTHE WINNER PROJECT OF SAN MARCO AWARD 2011 TAKES LIFE

Foundation San Marco RussiaSOLIDARITY DOESN’T KNOW BOUNDARIES

The architect Marco Poncellini with the Project Collina degli Elfi has been awarded on the

last San Marco Award edition, which Colorificio San Marco with the Politecnico di Milano and the IUAV - Venice devoted to color in architecture.“The project of Collina Degli Elfi - which included the renovation and redevelopment of the former convent of Craviano in Piemonte in a center for children with cancer - used color not only for aesthetic purposes, but also sensory, introducing a phenomenology sensitive not only to buildings, but also its inhabitants. The support and the award to such a project initiative show the architecture to the role of ethics and social. The award, consisting of a supply of Colorificio San Marco and Novacolor material, has made possible the realization of the project. The work has been accomplished thanks to the sensitivity and commitment of a volunteer network.

The Collina degli Elfi is a voluntary association that organizes and runs and assistance service center for children with cancer or chronic illnesses, and their families. Often these young patients undergo invasive and long-term therapies, forced to spend much time in the hospital where the condition of the disease leads to face the fear, the fatigue, and all the effects related to treatment. Aspects that are inevitably to tie their socialization with peers. The project of this association wants to revive the desire for fun and lightheartedness in the context of full safety and professionalism.

The Foundation San Marco Russia is a Russian ONG created to provide assistance and support to children in need. The

association was founded by the consorts and Grigori and Svetlana Vrukalo that with the company Vernici are distributors of Colorificio San Marco for the Russian market.The San Marco Russia Foundation seeks to help children who find themselves in difficult situations in foster homes, orphanages and hospitals, both with direct aid and as a collector of the efforts of

many Moscow volunteers seeking to bring aid and comfort to these children. Currently, the association is supporting two hosting Moscow orphanages. San Marco Award 2012SECOND EDITION OF THE AWARD FOR ARCHITECTURE THAT INTERPRETES THE COLOR

IThe Colorificio the San Marco SpA, in collaboration with the National Council

of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists, next 15th of November 2012 will present the new edition of the SAN MARCO AWARD. This award, like the previous one, aims to promote, search and improve the theme of COLOR in relation to architecture and the environment. The international competition is open to architects, who can participate in projects carried out or not. The competition is also open to the world of the university. Graduates can participate with their graduation or master thesis and academics that have outcomes of courses, workshops and masters.There are two themes of the competition:THE COLOR AND THE CONTEMPORARY CITY, dedicated to projects where the use of color has been used to regenerate and revitalize parts of the city, blighted buildings, factories and disused plants, squares and public areas, recovering the sense of sociability. These projects should demonstrate how chromatic

interventions can solve architectural problems without radical changes and always respecting the environmental sustainability.COLOR AND HISTORY, will select the restoration of individual buildings, public or private, in which the color has returned to the facades an adequate historical and artistic value. Color to energyA BIG PROJECT OF INDUSTRIAL RECOVERY IN FRANCE

Ca’ Dei RicchiCOLORIFICIO SAN MARCO COLLABORATES IN THERESTORATION OF THE HISTORIC PALACE OF TREVISO

The Colorificio San Marco together with the customer Gilbert Ferrieres began in 2009 a

collaboration that has allowed over the last few years the development of some interesting and prestigious projects in the south west of France, one of them was the hydroelectric plant in Brézou of Brommat in the Aveyron area.This realization is part of a broader project that involves the restoration of a complex of hydroelectric sites along the water axis of the French Pyrenees.The station inaugurated in 1933 by President Albert Lebrun has a production capacity of 613 MW thanks to its 3 generators. Its restoration,

which boasts an extension of 12,000 square meters of realizations, has taken into account the requirements of Batiment de France (the organization that protects all buildings of historical and strategic interest in the country).The client, Energie de France, in collaboration with an architectural office in Toulouse has decided to entrust Colorificio San Marco the specifications of the work, including even for future realizations its products as an essential condition for restoration activities.The work has provided a careful phase of removal, stabilization and recovery of old plasters through the application of a combined cycle of BETOXAN

with different particle sizes, followed by a total fissativazione with ISOMARC and where necessary by the application of COMBAT 222 and COMBAT 333 to prevent the proliferation of molds and lichens.The main feature of this construction site, despite the inaccessible place and the climatic conditions to which it is exposed the work, has been the choice of the finishing products, whereas for legislation requirements has been imposed with a silicate-based mineral cycle.For this reason, once fully restored the integrity of the support it has been applied a full cycle of the product range MARCOSIL consisting

of MARCOSIL GRIP and followed according to the requirements of the architects with a finish MARCOSIL FILLER or MARCOSIL INTONACHINO. Over the same period, with the collaboration of Gilbert Ferrières another hydroelectric power plant has been realized in Golignac of smaller size with a cycle of the system ELASTOMARC. It is planned for the end of the year a new important restoration activity of a third hydroelectric plant in Oloron Ste Marie (in the Western Pyrenees area) situated in a river island where most likely will be applied a complete restoration of the plasters to obtain a mineral finish with the application of the cycle BIOMARC.

Colorificio the San Marco has contributed to the recovery of Cà dei Ricchi thanks to the

commitment of the enterprise Pietro Sartorelli srl which performed the restoration and will handle its management. The delicate and careful

restoration has returned to the chief town of San Marco, one of its most valuable buildings of the Venetian Gothic. Cà dei Ricchi is a historic high-class building located in the heart of Treviso. Built in the second half of the fifteenth century

by Azzoni Avogadro, the palace became the home of the Collegio dei Nobili, for a time was the Town Hall. The building is in Gothic style. The facade that looks onto Via San Gregorio is richly decorated with beautiful floral motifs. Similar, but to a lesser degree, is the other facade overlooking Via Barberia. Colorificio San Marco has collaborated in its restruction with natural lime-based plasters BIOMARC DEUMIDIFICANTE, which are products made for the restoration of

damp masonries, specific for the interventions in the green building and the restoration of historic buildings. Applicable on wall surfaces of any kind (gravel, limestone, stone, brick) outwards and inwards. For the redevelopment of interiors has been chosen as finishing product TEODORICO of the brand NOVACOLOR, a lime plaster for interiors enhanced by the presence of tiny metal scales. www.cadeiricchi.it

The NorwayNorway is a country with a population of just five million and a long coastline which includes the northernmost

There is common consensus among political parties that the State will not spend more than 4 per cent of the interest on this fund annually, and this rule has prevented the Norwegian economy from overheating.Many contractors make a living as suppliers to the oil industry, fabricating advanced steel structures and providing engineering services. Their workshops occupy a large proportion of the Norwegian workforce.Salmon farming is the other major export industry in Norway. All along the coast extensive salmon farming goes on and many people are involved in the production of high-quality foods for the export market.Norway enjoys a unique economic situation in Europe. Unemployment is a mere 3 per cent, and economic activity is bustling. There is great demand for qualified labour. Norway now depends on labour from abroad and 13 per cent of the population are immigrants. Having not joined the European Union, Norway retains its own currency, the Norwegian Krone.The average wage for workers in Norway is Euro 62 000.One example that illustrates how completely

The Colorificio San Marco is located in the industrial area of Marcon (Venice), which is a strategic position for the entire northeast of Italy and is close to the most important motorway hubs. The last May at the Trainig Centre of Colorificio San Marco was organized the first course

dedicated entirely to Interior Designers and Architects open to foreign designers.A large group of designers coming from Romania was the first hosted group who had the possibility, through a three-day program, to develop the theme of color in architecture.

The lectures have touched the color theory, the evolution and changes of color throughout the history. Crucial point of the discussions was the delicate issue of the choice of colors during a on-site work both in new construction and in redevelopment works. The lessons have been guided by the technicians of the Research & Development Laboratory of Colorificio San Marco, enriched by the collaboration with the architect Cristiano Bonesso who, after many years of collaboration with the Group of Marcon, has treated and developed the theme of color.To make more complete the overall experience, along with the didactic lessons and confrontations in classroom, the group visited some significant sites in the area of Venice where has been conducted a study on the color and materials in collaboration with Colorificio San Marco.

Dania Fazion, applicator of the CAP Pavimantova, was born as self-taught, but

passion drives her to explore the techniques coming to the application of the trompe l’oeil decoration in both indoor and outdoor places.With passion and technique she can combine in her works the elegance and refinement of decorative products.Every single project is unique and previously

studied, designed and realized to enhance and customize the identity of the environment or building. For his latest works she used a combination of traditional water-based paints and MARCOPOLO which iridescent effect create scenic influences of great impact. The opaque contrast of decoration expresses, through the imprint color, a sense of elegance and refinement.
