What do you think the word ‘community’ means?What does it mean to belong in a ‘community’?

Can you think of different groups of people who come together for a common purpose? i.e families, faith groups…..Can you make a list of different communities?

and help each other. A place where people do the same

things. People make a community,

communities or people may not live near one another but come together for a common purpose.

What is a community and who makes it what it is?

ActivityThink about different groups of people who come together for a common purpose. This might include faith groups, families, classes, sports teams or clubs. List different communities.

1. Draw a map showing the different groups or communities to which you belong.

2. Look at each of the communities that you have drawn and write about the benefits you have in being a part of the community and what you contribute to that community
