Dear Friends,Thank you for your support! By purchasing this calendar, you have become part
of the Primate Connection – a network of primate conservation organizations dedicated to protecting the primates of our planet.
As you look through the pages, you will come face to face with some of the rarest primates on Earth. In manycases, it is a miracle to have captured them on camera.
Primate Connections is honored to highlight these animals, the organizations that protect them, and thededicated people that make it all possible.
The Primate Connections calendar supports primate conservation in three ways. We: - Generate awareness of primates, their habitats, and the challenges they face
- Raise funds for conservation organizations - Empower primate conservationists through grants and scholarships
By purchasing this calendar, you have helped us to achieve each of these objectives, and for that, we sincerelythank you! To stay connected with Primate Connections and receive our latest news, as well as exclusiveopportunities for collaboration, please visit: www.PrimateConnections.org.
We’d also liek to thank those who made this project possible: Thomas Lafon, Noel Rowe, Marc Myers, PetraOsterberg, Andrea Donalson, Amy Clanin, Allison Hanes, Crystal Schaeffer, Alejandro Morales, FernandoMartinez, Suzie McGuire, Dr Edward Louis, Elizabeth Ross, Dalma Zsalako, Dr. Martina Raffel, RickPassaro, James Pahl, Monteen Rivedal-Solberg, Sharon Strong, Keri Cairns, Anna Nekaris, Tim Eppley, andAndrew Walmsley.

E ach year Primate Connections contributes funds to scholarship programs that empoweraspiring primatologists. These scholarship programs transform people’s lives and drastically
expand their careers. Below you will nd testimony from Ekwoge Enang Abwe, current manager
of the Ebo Forest Research Project in Cameroon, Africa, illustrating just how transformative thesescholarship programs can be. “Getting the Habitat Country Scholarship from Oxford Brookes University was a major break-through in my academic and professional life. The Masters of Science in Primate Conservation
Biology course at Oxford Brookes University was an opportunity to get a formal training in conservation. Today, I workwith local communities to conserve chimpanzees, gorillas and other unique mammals and plants of the Ebo forest.
The skills acquired during my training in Oxford Brookes University today enable me to coordinate local communitiesaround the Ebo forest and beyond. This work was recently rewarded with a Whitley Award, which I received in May2013.
These and other achievements could only be possible because of the seedsown by the Habitat Country Scholarship and contributions from PrimateConnections.
I wish to use this medium to say ‘thankyou.’ I wish that in-coming students takeadvantage of this unique opportunity andto contribute to biodiversity conservation.”

Fundación Entropika contributes to the long-term conservation of tropical biodiversity in the Amazon by working closely withthe indigenous people on local community-led projects, establishing programmes of education and research. Entropika’s AotusProject aims to curb traf cking of wildlife in the Colombian-Peruvian border, using the owl monkeys as agship species. Owlmonkeys have been traded illegally for more than 30 years for malaria research in Colombia. Most animals come from Peru il-legally, and allowed extraction quotes in Colombia are not respected. In 2012 Entropika obtained a positive rst instance rulingin favour of the conservation of owl monkeys. Contact us to become a volunteer of Entropika and be part of the ght against thetraf cking of wildlife in the Amazon.

Thailand is home to two species of slow loris: the Bengal and the greater loris. Although both are protected by national andinternational laws, the illegal wildlife trade is a growing concern. Thailand has long been a transit country for the wildlife trade, and recently lorises are also facing another enemy in the millions of tourists that visit the country every year. Many of thesetourists take photos with animals as “props,” offered by photo touts on the streets of major cities. In Phuket alone, around 50slow loris photo props were con scated off the streets in less than 12 months. Sadly, as long as tourists are paying, photo toutswill continue their business. In 2013, Love Wildlife Foundation and the Little Fireface Project joined forces in an attempt tocombat this, and other, conservation threats to the Thai lorises.

Colobus Conservation was established in 1997 as a not-for-pro t organisation to promote conservation of the colobus monkeyand address the threats to its survival. The organization works in partnership with local communities to promote the conservationof the colobus, along with other endemic primate species, and the unique coastal forest habitat on which they depend. TodayColobus Conservation programmes focus on habitat conservation and community linkages as well as human/primate con ictmanagement, welfare, education and research. The objectives and work of Colobus Conservation are recognised internationally
by AZA Colobus Species Survival Plan (SSP) and Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA) accreditation, and they are supported by well known conservationists Jonathon and Angela Scott through their role as Patrons.

Founded in 2006, Art of Conservation (AoC) promotes one-health conservation through education and empowerment. Theorganization encourages learning through creative expression, combining science-based lesson plans with visual art, poetry, song, dance and sports. AoC programs are directed toward school children who live in areas where endangered species con-servation programs are underway but have limited opportunities to directly experience, engage and invest in these efforts. Bycollaborating with socially responsible partners, including conservationists, educators and health professionals, AoC develops
both in- and out-of-school lesson plans speci c to each community and its conservation challenges. During its seven years inRwanda, AoC provided children with thousands of hours of educational programming. New initiatives have been launched inGuyana and Panama.

The ARCAS Rescue and Rehabilitation Center , located in El Petén, Guatemala, strives for the conservation of Guatemalan biodiversity. Though rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned wildlife con scated from poachers, we break the chain of the illegal pet trade. We successfully work with over 40 species, including spider and howler monkeys, parrots, toucans, crocodiles, turtles, snakes, kinkajous, ocelots, coatimundis and many others; most of them in danger of extinction. Staff and volunteers are incharge of providing food, shelter, love, attention and veterinary care. After undergoing our rehabilitation program, with protocol
based on the IUCN, the rescued animals are ready. The ultimate goal arrives, the moment of release, letting them go, set to roamthe Mayan biosphere reserve, unbounded, unrestricted, FREE.

Where can you nd over 100 species of endangered primates found nowhere else on the planet? The island of Madagascar! This“land of lemurs” is also home to over 20 million people, who depend upon the forest to meet basic needs. Today, less than 10%of the original forest remains. Conservation Fusion is creating an educational foundation by providing innovative, hands-on
programs engaging local communities. By learning about the treasures their country possesses, they are connected to its futureand take ownership in preserving it. We are also connecting children living in Madagascar with youth in the US, empoweringALL kids to BE the change they wish to see in the world. We are all connected, we all share one world.

The Cat Ba Langur Conservation Project was founded in 2000 by Münster Zoo and ZGAP. Our main objectives are to prevent the extinction of the critically endangered Cat Ba langur and to contribute to the conservation of the overall biodiversityof Cat Ba Man and Biosphere Reserve. Since the project’s establishment, hunting has been eliminated and public awareness has
become high. The chief remaining threat is now population fragmentation. To combat this, in 2012 two isolated female langurswere successfully translocated to the strictly protected core zone of Cat Ba National Park known as ‘the sanctuary’. Here they
joined langur groups containing males, offering them the opportunity to reproduce and contribute to the recovery of their specieswhere none existed before.

The Primate Rescue Network (PRN) was created after PRN founders discovered several animal rescue centers throughoutLatin America doing amazing work. These organizations are not only saving animals who have become “refugees of the rain-forest,” but also educating local people about how important primates are to biodiversity. These rescue operations were typicallystarted by private individuals who felt compelled to save the orphaned, injured, con scated and abandoned animals they werewitnessing rst hand. These centers have become a beacon of hope—an “oasis” for primates and other animals to seek refuge. As of this writing, the PRN currently provides funding to two member-centers (Canaote Rescue Center in Venezuela and URRASat the University of Colombia).
