Principal’s Message Dear Parents/Caregivers, This week we officially welcome back all our students after many weeks of remote learning.

Yesterday will certainly be etched in our memories as one of the happiest days celebrated at South. The classrooms and playgrounds were filled with the sounds of happy chatter and laughter.

Mark Scott the Deputy Secretary has provided advice around the return to fulltime, at school, learning. School students do not need to follow strict adult physical distancing guidelines, but need to follow good hygiene practices:

Regularly washing hands

Avoiding the sharing of food

Coughing or sneezing into your elbow, or a tissue which should be placed in a bin straight away

All students should be at school unless:

They have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical issue

They are currently unwell

Assemblies have been put on hold until further notice but the Principal Honour Cards will continue to be presented weekly. Reconciliation Week In 2020 Reconciliation Australia marks 20 years of shaping Australia’s journey towards a more just equitable and reconciled nation. The theme for 2020 is In this Together. Today students from K-6 created a sea of hands in the colours of the Aboriginal flag to recognise Sorry Day which falls on the 26th May. Throughout the week students will be involved in activities that reflect upon the achievements and rich culture of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

School Reports Teachers will be involved in report writing this week which will be based on both at school and at home learning to date. This report will be a simplified version, with no A - E grading due to the interruptions caused by the COVID lockdown. Report writing timetable as follows:

Tuesday - Mr Morris, Mrs Selleck, Ms Parsons, Mr Kuz Wednesday - Mr Moodie, Mr Sundstrom, Mrs Honey, Mrs Champness Thursday - Ms Liefting, Mr Hanns and Miss Kerry. Library and STEM Library and STEM lessons will resume next week. Tuesday - 6 Trickett, 6 Fitzgibbon, 2 Wu Wednesday - 5 Hoy, 5 Fearnley, 4 Pearson, K/1 Fahey Friday - 3 Alcott, 3/4 Gaze, K Klim, 1 Freeman Canteen News Now that the school is operational for five days a week, the canteen will open for lunch orders only, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please make sure you use the modified menu when ordering.

Have a happy week!
