Dear Wolfpack Nation,

As we approach the end of October, I hope November finds you all well! It is important to understand how each of our students are doing through-out the year and very critical as we move in to the month of November. This exciting drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem is both a gripping historical play and a timely parable of our contemporary society.

The story focuses upon a young farmer, his wife, and a young servant – girl who maliciously causes the wife’s arrest for witchcraft. The farmer brings the girl to court to admit the lie – and it is here that the monstrous course of bigotry and deceit is terrifyingly depicted. The farmer, instead of saving his wife, finds himself accused of witchcraft and is ultimately condemned with a host of others.

Performances are November 8, 9, 14 & 16, all at 7 p.m. in the Black Hills PAC. Tickets are $5.00 for students and seniors and $8.00 for adults.

Chromebooks

Thanks to so many individuals, the distribution of Chromebooks to our students went well. The district’s technology department, our building’s Network Specialist, Nadine White, and library staff implemented the CB technology plan and checked out Chromebooks to all 850 students in one day. Cases and charging cords were provided too. Now that the year is fully underway, we are seeing most everyone on board with necessary care and maintenance. If a student does not come to school with their Chromebook charged, it may affect their ability to participate in certain class activities and/or assignments. Please make sure your child is in the routine of charging their device and bringing it to school each day. The library has a charging station; during PACK, lunch, and before school students can charge their device there.

The $25 Chromebook fee covers the first repair and helps reduce the cost of subsequent accidents. Fortunately, we have not had many Chromebooks need repair. We are grateful to have our students be responsible with them. I appreciate all our staff and students maintaining these Chromebooks. If you do have concerns, please contact your child’s teacher or counselor.

BHHS Cheerleaders

It has been another exciting season for our Black Hills Cheer Team! In October, they went to the University of Washington to perform at halftime. It was an all-day event practicing with over twenty teams. The girls then performed at halftime with the band. Senior Night was another spectacular night! We are so proud of our six seniors and the leadership they provide for our team! It was an especially great night because we DEFEATED the T-Birds in the PIONEER BOWL!!

We are currently practicing for competition season. Our first competition is November 10th down at Union. The girls have been working hard to elevate their level of stunt difficulty! All three of our stunt groups consistently hit libs and can throw baskets. We are confident that the team has what it takes to make it to state this year!!

If you would like to be a part of our team, tryouts are usually the last week before Spring Break. This year the dates for tryouts will be March 25-28.

PACK TV

This week our Broadcast & Leadership class introduced PACK TV to our student body. PACK TV is a Broadcast Journalism CTE class where teens write, produce, and edit NEWS stories relevant to the teens of BHHS. Students use industry video cameras, lights, microphones, and editing software to capture the news relevant to the teens on our campus. Students may earn an Art or Occupational Ed. credit by completing the year long class.

You can find our PACK TV news by clicking on the PACK TV link on the BHHS Home Page under quick links PACK TV. Shows will air on Monday and Friday. Later this year we wish to also introduce a news maga-zine show titled "The Howler." BOYS’ GOLF

It was a honor and privilege to Coach the golfers and parents this year!!! I can’t say enough about all of

the teamwork the parents did for the Black Hills Golfers. Our boys were 10 -0 and the Eveco League

Champs this year and 3rd at districts, with Mason Lunsford, Jackson Fenner, Carson Hughes, and Tyler

Cassell scoring 87 team points against an elite field of competitors in Woodland. Tyler Cassell beat the

entire field at Districts and won MVP of the league for the 2nd straight year. Carson Hughes and Jackson

Fenner made 1st team all league this year. I am looking forward to our returning Freshman and other

classmen next year. I am so proud of all of these golfers. This season was a complete success. Adding

Jack Nicklaus Landon to the coaching staff was a huge part of our success.
