Dear Colleagues,
It gives me immense pleasure to present the third issue of the bi-monthly APEC
Digest for September-October carrying details of activities and achievements of
students and faculty members of the college. In this issue, activities of the various
organs of the college are classified as below.

2. Faculty Development Program (FDP) organised and attended.

4. Faculty interaction with outside world.

I am delighted to present here that there are 29 Ph.D holders on the roll as
faculty members. The college is a recognized research centre approved by Anna
University, Chennai. Several of the faculty members have obtained guide ship to
supervise research scholars of various other universities.
I do hope that the Digest would be of immense value to industries and they
would come forward to utilize this in their activities and also establish continuous
contact with the institute. The college has several centres of different bodies namely,
CISCO Academy, ICT Academy, CII, EMC2, Oracle academy Member etc. It has
various cells for facilitating activities of students.

X. Students Chapter Activities (ISTE, ICI, IE(India), CSI)
1. The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with ISTE, IE (India), CSI, IETE
conducted a NATIONAL LEVEL TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM“YUREKA 13”. YUREKA’13
Inaugurates with more than 100 participants with the chief guest Mr.P.Sivakumar Barclays Technology
India & Mr.Radhakrishnan, Ford. Final year students of contraption team have done an excellent
innovation on “REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE”, which was kept as a conceptual model at
YUREKA’13, more than 30 students has presented. Their Technical papers at YUREKA’13 in which
technical events like water rocketry, Remote control race, and Treasure hunt were also as a part of
events. Where more number of students participates and won prizes enthusiastically.

2. The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
in association with ISTE, conducted a TWO DAYS
SEMINAR ON “MATLAB APPLICATIONS IN
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING” on 26th
& 27th
September, 2013. The Seminar was inaugurated by Dr.
N.P.Subramaniam Asst. Professor, Pondicherry University,
Pondicherry and Keynote address was delivered by
Dr.S.Jeevananthan Associate professor, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry. Dr. V. Ramasamy,
Principal & Chairman, ISTE local Chapter member & Dr. J. Baskaran, HOD Presided over the function.
3.The Department of Chemical Engineering in association with
ISTE, IICHE AND IE(I) conducted a National level Technical
symposium - CHEMZEST for the benefit of students on 9th
October 2013. Prof. Dr. K. Palanivelu, Centre for
Environmental Studies, Anna University, Chennai was the Chief
guest of this event. He gave a Guest lecture on the topic
“Separation of Carbon dioxide from flue gas and its utilization”. Students from the various colleges
presented “paper” and “poster”. AD-ZAP event and CHEMQUIZ have conducted for the students. The
prizes and certificates has distributed at the Valedictory.
4. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in
association with ISTE, IE (India), CSI, IETE conducted a
National Level Technical Symposium CRESTFEST’13
organized by the Technocrats of Adhiparasakthi Engineering
College on 10th
October 2013 at Bangaru Adigalar Indoor
Stadium. The event was inaugurated by T.V Geetha Professor
Head of The Department of CSE Anna University Chennai. Students from various colleges presented
“Paper” and participated in various events like Debugging, Quiz, Chameleon, Treasure hunt. The prizes
and certificates were distributed during the Valedictory Function.
5. The Department of Information Technology in association
with ISTE, IE (India), CSI, IETE conducted the National
Level Technical Symposium FLABBERGAST’13, organized
by the Technocrats of Adhiparasakthi Engineering College on
26th September 2013 at Main Block Auditorium. The event
was inaugurated by Dr.R.Gokulakrishnan, Deputy Director,
EXIM Group STPI Chennai. Students from various colleges

actively participated in Paper Presentation, Short Film, Chameleon and Surprise Event. The Chief Guest
provided invincible presentation regarding present technologies. Certificates and Cash Prices were
distributed to the winners of various events. Ms.S.R.Jolintha delivered Vote of Thanks and the event was
a great success.
6. The Department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering has conducted a two days workshop on “PLA
and SCADA” delivered by Mr.R.Thiyagarajan and team,
VNC automation and Solution Private Limited, Chennai for
the benefit of the III year ECE and M.E students on 03.09.13
and 04.09.13. From this workshop students had a handson
experience on PLC Programming and also they have gained knowledge about the working of machines in
companies like Tata, Nissan, Scoda etc.
7. The Society of Computer Application Maestros of
Department of Computer Applications has organized a One
Day Workshop on Android Applications in association with
CSI and ISTE student chapter on 21st October 2013 for the
benefit of Final year MCA students. The workshop was
handled by Mr. LokeshGnanasekeran, Technical Head,
TCS, and Chennai.
8. The Department of Management Studies organized college
bazaar along with first and second MBA students on 4th
, 5th
and 6th
September 2013. It is organized in order to promote
the social responsibility and also to inculcate the marketing
strategies amongst the MBA students.
9. The Department of Civil Engineering in association with
ISTE, ICI conducted a National Level Student Technical
Symposium APNACS’ 13, was held on September 25, 2013
at the Main Block Auditorium of the college under the
auspices of the ICI Students chapter. Prof. Dr. Nagamani,
HOD, Civil Engineering, Anna University, Chennai was the
Chief Guest on the occasion. The inauguration was followed
by paper presentation by students who have thronged the venue in large numbers from various parts
of State.

10. The Department of CSE in association with ISTE, CSI conducted a two days Workshop on FOSS
Lab on 18th
and 19th
September 2013 at Main Block auditorium. Mr.D.Etiraj Senior Engineer,
CDAC, Chennai was the Chief Guest on that occasion.
11. The Department of EEE in association with ISTE, CSI conducted a three days Workshop on Power
System Problem Solutions on 21st to 23
rd September 2013 at the Library conference Hall.

Bangalore was the Chief Guest on that moment.
XI. Alumni Interaction
The alumni meet for the Information Technologist has been jointly organized by the department of
Information Technology and APEC Alumni Association
on 18.09.2013@ Hotel Green Park, Chennai. Fifty
alumni particapated in the meet. Faculties and students of
Information Technology also partipated in the meet.
Many of the the alumni shared their knowledge and
experience to the present students for their career
advancement and also gave valid suggestions to the
department for development. They have assured that they
will give full support to the department for any kind of development.
XII. Training and Placement Cell Soft skills training programme has been conducted for the Final year students by M/s FOCUS

Quiz competition was organized by “Science Club” in association with “Student Chapters of
ISTE &IE (I)” on 25th
