Will You Say Yes?
You find yourself in the difficult situation of being ac-cused of blasphemy and confronting possible execution. Your crime is believing in Jesus Christ. The question is then asked of you, “Are you a Christian, a follower of the one named Jesus Christ?” Your answer may very well dictate what happens to you next. What is your an-swer?
It is probably easier to answer this question when the scenario is make-believe. All of us want to believe that we would say yes to the question of belief in Jesus, but strange things happen when humans panic in the face of extreme stress. As we reflect on what we would say, there are those all over the world who are being asked that very same question. It is a question that was asked of many in the first centuries of the Church. Those who respond “yes” are considered martyrs and saints.
We might not usually think of all this in terms of good stewardship living. However, our faith is also a gift we have received from God to cultivate, grow, and share with others. The more interesting question than the one posed above is, “Would an accuser even think of asking you such a question?” Would you have cultivated, grown, and shared your faith enough that anyone would even consider you worthy of asking the question? They might assume you don’t know Jesus Christ at all. I don’t like conflict and do not seek out conflict, but I would rather someone ask the first question posed than assume there is no reason to confront me in the first place.

CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH PART ONE: THE PROFESSION OF FAITH
Section Two: THE CREEDS Chapter One: I BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER
Article One: “I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth”
Paragraph Three: The Almighty
The mystery of God's apparent powerlessness
Only faith can embrace the mysterious ways of God's almighty power. This faith glories in its weaknesses in order to draw to itself Christ's power. The Virgin Mary is the supreme model of this faith, for she believed that "nothing will be impossible with God", and was able to magnify the Lord: "For he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name." "Nothing is more apt to confirm our faith and hope than holding it fixed in our minds that nothing is impossible with God. Once our reason has grasped the idea of God's almighty power, it will easily and without any hesitation admit every-thing that [the Creed] will afterwards propose for us to believe - even if they be great and marvellous things, far above the ordinary laws of nature." Catechism of the Catholic Church, §§ 273—274.
LITURGICAL EVENTS & NEWS
A Message from Most Rev. Mark
Brennan, Bishop of Wheeling-Charleston
DISPENSATION FROM THE OBLIGATION TO ATTEND MASS
While no member of the Faithful is bound to attend Mass where
impossibility arises, West Virginia borders a number of dioceses in
which Masses are still being publicly celebrated, and many of our
Faithful are easily able to attend those Masses. Owing to the grave
nature of the current public health crisis, and not wishing that an of
our flock be compelled to place themselves unnecessarily at risk, I
hereby dispense all those who reside within the territory of the
Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston from their obligation to attend
Mass. The intention of this dispensation, along with the suspension
of public liturgies in the Diocese, is to encourage the Faithful to
practice “social distancing” and “self-quarantine” to the extent that
their state of life permits, by which we hope to contribute to the
containment and end of the current pandemic.
ST. AGNES NEWS

LA ECONOMÍA SACRAMENTAL
CAPÍTULO PRIMERO: EL MISTERIO
PASCUAL EN EL TIEMPO DE LA IGLESIA
ARTÍCULO 2: EL MISTERIO PASCUAL
EN LOS SACRAMENTOS DE LA IGLESIA
III.
