All orders of stock inventory will ship same day if placed before 5:00 EST.

Returns must be approved by Charter Industries. Returns due to mis-ordering by the customer are subject to a 15% restocking charge. All returns must be made within 30 days of receipt of order.

Charter Industries guarantees products to be free from defects for one (1) year from date of initial delivery. This warranty does not apply to damages from shipping, storage, or misuse. Products altered in any way from their original condition are also not covered under this warranty.

Charter Industries fulfills and ships 98% of its orders from stock. If you order a non-stock item, we will contact you and give you the shortest lead-time possible, usually less than five days.

QUARTER SLICINGThe quarter log, or flitch, is mounted onthe guide plate so that the growth ringsof the log strike the knife at approxi -mately right angles, producing a seriesof stripes, straight in some woods, variedin others.

HALF-ROUND SLICINGA variation of rotary cutting in whichsegments, or flitches, of the log are mountedoff center in the lathe. This results in a cutslightly across the annular growth rings.

BOOK MATCHINGIn book matching, every other sheet ofveneer is turned over to achieve acontinuous, flowing, balanced, pattern.

Synthetic Varnish System (Alkyd) – Apply one coat of clear sanding sealer according to the manufacturer’s directions. A brush or roller application is recommended. When dry, generally after three to four hours, sand with fine sandpaper and dust clean. Finish as desired with a flat varnish for a matte sheen, a satin finish for an eggshell sheen, or apply a second coat of the sanding sealer to obtain a semi-gloss sheen.

Poly-urethane Varnish Systems – Urethanes are highly resistant to abrasion, marring, detergents, grease, oil, water, and alcohol, and they produce a hard, tough film. This finish is not recommended for use over sanding sealer, lacquer, or shellac.

Do not use old shellac. Shellac has a typical “shelf life” of six months. After the shelf life has expired, most shellac will not dry.

Apply one coat of 4lb cut shellac reduced one part shellac with one part denatured alcohol as the sealer coat. Allow the shellac to dry thoroughly, sand with fine sandpaper, and dust clean. A finished coat of alkyd or synthetic varnish in the desired sheen may be applied.

Note: The use of paste wood filler on open grain woods such as Oak, Ash or Mahogany before the application of any of the above systems is optional. Filling uniforms the surface and is especially desirable on horizontal work areas.

Note: Spray application may be employed if the operator knows the techniques and equipment necessary to obtain satisfactory results with the above-suggested systems.

This product consists of natural wood veneer laminated to a backer material. Charter Industries shall warrant the bond of the wood veneer to the factory adhered backer from delamination for a period of no longer than one year, provided the installation instructions have been properly followed. No other claims will be considered due to but not limited to; variances in climate, application techniques, tool defect, chemical altering or the surface condition of the substrate. There are no warranties, expressed or implied, which extend beyond the written warranties contained herein.

If it is determined by the original manufacturer that the product does contain a defect, the limitation of the vendor/manufacturer liability shall be at the ventor’s/manufacturer’s descretion to replace the product or credit the purchase price paid. Charter Industries shall not be liable for consequential, indirect or incidental damages or for any amount in excess of the price of the products involved. No claims of labor or additional materials will be considered. Product authorized for return must be in their original condition, without stains, finish or altered in any way. SUGGESTED VENEER FINISHING INSTRUCTIONSSurface PreparationThe veneer should be clean, dry, and free of all foreign material such as oil, grease, wax, etc. Using extra-fine sandpaper, sand the entire area to a smooth, uniform surface. Dust or vacuum the surface clean.

FinishesVeneer, like all fine woods, should be finished to bring out its inherent and natural beauty. The finishing material should not be of such a nature that it detracts from the beauty of the wood. Nearly all fine wood is finished to a flat, satin, or non-glossy appearance.

The architect or designer usually specifies various types of finishing systems. It is important to use a recommended system rather than combining systems or products of different manufactures to “short-cut” the specifications. The recommended systems are as follows.
