LEYLAB

NETWORKING LABORATORIES

LeyLab.net is a piece of software that has been specially

developed to network school laboratories. All the hardware

components in the networked lab communicate via Ethernet.

LeyLab.net allows you, for example, to control power supply units,

function generators or school desk power sockets, all from a

central workstation. The lab equipment may be remotely turned

on and off, configured or limited to your output values for the

respective experiment, according to requirements.

The network enables the required parameters to be rapidly

entered into the lab workstations. Equipment damage due to

excessive supply voltage is thus avoided and the potential danger

in the lab is reduced.

SENSOR CASSY 19" MODULE

The Sensor CASSY 2 is now also available for the 19“ 3HE Power

Supply System. Its integration with the lab equipment paves the

way for new lab-operating applications.

The space-saving arrangement eliminates the need to set it up

and remove it each time. There is still plenty of space on the lab

desk for the actual test rig. All the established features of the

desktop device have, of course, been maintained. Together with

the CASSY Lab control and analysis software, this forms a

universally-applicable interface for operating professional labs.

The FlexRay Data Bus - Timely Control

Two model cars are used to simulate insufficient distance between two vehicles. This state is passed on, via the FlexRay data bus, to the ABS/ESP control device, which then triggers a braking action such that the safety distance is obtained once again. The default values for set distance vary depending on the condition of the road (dry, wet, slippery).

This condition is transmitted to the radar sensor control unit via a LIN data bus. The braking function is displayed via the activation of the high pressure control valve and the pump. A high speed CAN bus link activates the corresponding control lights in the instrument panel.

The revamped Lighting Training Desk has been fitted with original

lighting, safety and comfort elements. The following control units

have been installed:

• Charge module

• Steering Column Electronics

• Instrument Panel

• Tailer Vehicle Control Unit

• Comfort Control Unit

These are networked together via the CAN data bus.

In addition, rain and light sensors for light and windscreen wiper

automatic and a multifunction steering wheel - for remote control -

have been connected with the associated master control unit via

the LIN data bus. 4 mm plugs can be used to take measurements

of the data buses and various sensors and actuators. Suitable

diagnostics devices (e.g. the 737 9803, VCDS or 737 9805, SUN

Solus Pro) enable back-side switchable faults to be analysed.

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Hybrid drives generally refer to the combination of different drive

technologies. In the automotive industry it is the combination of

internal combustion engines and electric motors. Examining the

basics of hybrid technology thus requires fundamental knowledge

of the design and operating principles of electrical machines.

These include alternating and rotating field machines as well as

servo machines in the operating modes motor and generator.

Additional knowledge of power electronics and energy storage

technology facilitates the understanding of the new system

"Hybrid Drive Technology".

The combination of combustion engine and electric motor in the

drivetrain allows for new driving functions: Start/Stop function,

purely electric driving, hybrid driving, alternator operation,

regenerative braking. Ultimately, there is one purpose behind all

these operating modes: to reduce fuel consumption and thus the

emission of pollutants.

In addition to the demo unit "Hybrid Drives", LD Didactic has

developed a student workplace that examines all aspects in detail.

Equipped with a permanently excited synchronous motor, an

inverter, a dual-voltage on-board power supply system as well as

a touch screen display for operation and display of the energy

flow. The control units are connected via the Motor-CAN bus.

The student can independently examine the complex nature of

hybrid technology. Using overlay masks, it is possible to select

various popular hybrid systems.

Photovoltaic Devices

The importance of environmentally-friendly technology is

increasing in the coming years. This trend is also reflected in the

portfolio of LD Didactic. Therefore, the TPS photovoltaic device

training system comprises a further component within our

Greentec facilities. The new facilities use customary solar

components in an educational format and gives realistic results,

thus creating the optimal connection between theory and practice.

The topics include the generation of power in the solar modules,

the storage of the power generated and the handling of AC

consumers using an inverter. Using Sensor CASSY 2 and the

CASSY-Lab Software the experiments produce graphical results

that are easy to interpret.

The Fundamentals of Photovoltaics

The COM3LAB Photovoltaics Course covers the assembly and

operation of solar cells. Supported by animations and graphics,

this course provides a colourful introduction to the world of

photovoltaic devices. Real experiments determine the method of

operation of the solar modules under various operating

conditions. The microcontroller-governed charge controller runs

the solar generator at its Maximum Performance Point (MPP).

The theoretical placement and experiments are accompanied and

checked by the COM3LAB multimedia software package.

The COM3LAB 70036 Microcontroller I course covers the

assembly, operation, service launch and programming of

the ATMEL AT90CAN 128 Microcontrollers.

The student is provided with examples and exercises from

the abstract world of the Assembler and C programming

languages. The COM3LAB multimedia software course
