Prep News Our amazing Preps have settled in to their class routines so well that when Mrs Jones fell ill, they were able to tell Miss Gill and Mrs Hancock all about what they need to do and when. The Preps have continued to progress with their literacy rotations, maths, science, health and other subject areas. Great job Preps! Also this week we celebrated two birthdays! The two birthday boys were excited about being able to share birthday cake with their friends. Thank you to their parents for letting us all share their special day and for letting us know in advance. Miss Gill

Year 1 News Year 1 students have been very busy in the classroom. In the mornings we have been practising writing our letters very neatly. To do this, we make sure we are sitting up straight with our chairs tucked in and we hold our pencils properly. Mrs Amery

Chappy’s Chat Hello again Proston With this warm weather it is important to ensure students have plenty of cool water to drink and a frozen container in the lunch box helps to keep food cool and fresh too. Over this Term, I will share some simple, money- saving, healthy-eating, lunch box ideas. This food is healthier and at less cost, than the pre-packaged packets available at the supermarket. Keep an eye on this space. Here is an easy lunch box idea that you might like to try. There are 3 easy steps to this recipe. Don’t forget to put aside some special time with your child each day, if possible, to talk with them. My own children liked to tell me about their day at bed time. I think it may have been an excuse not to go to sleep at night. Making an opportunity for children to express their feelings about their day, is a great way to build relationship with them. It also builds resilience and gives them strategies on how to handle situations that are new to them. Till next time, have a great week. CHAPPY JANELLE

Tuckshop Tuckshop will be held on Tuesday & Friday from Week 3. Menus were sent home earlier this term. Please contact the office if you need another menu.

School Banking School Banking Day is Thursday. Information leaflets were sent home earlier this week. Contact the school if you did not receive one.

MEXICAN BENTO BOX Method: Step 1 Make Mexican meatballs: Preheat oven to 200C. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Combine 200g chicken mince, 2 tbsp mild salsa, 2 tsp taco seasoning, 2 tsp fresh chopped herbs and ¼ cup packaged breadcrumbs in a bowl. Roll into 24 balls. Place on tray. Spray with oil. Bake meatballs for 10 to 12 minutes or until meatballs are cooked through. Step 2 Make Tortilla corn chips (or use regular corn chips instead.) Line a baking tray with baking paper. Place 2 tortillas on tray. Spray with oil. Sprinkle with seasoning. Bake for 4 to 5 minutes or until golden. Cool on tray. Cut into triangles. Step 3 Mash 1/2 avocado and 2 tsp lime juice in a bowl. Place in small container with lid. Combine 3 chopped cherry tomato, red kidney beans and shredded cheese in a small bowl. Pack tomato mixture, 6 meatballs, corn chips and avocado into lunchboxes. Refrigerate. Happy, healthy eating.
