4. Graphical applicationconfiguration
The state-of-the-art graphical applicationconfiguration functionality offers powerfulways to create, adapt and modify applicationconfigurations, which also can be made astemplates for later re-use. PCM600 alsoenables presentation of the whole signal flowfrom input to output. It also assists the userduring the creation of applicationconfiguration through colour indications ofthe function blocks to ensure that themandatory inputs have been correctlyconnected. Before writing the configurationto an IED, the tool offers validation of thecomplete IED configuration which ensuresthat the configuration does not contain errors.
Additionally, the user can compare theconfiguration in the tool to the one in theIED. Further, the signal status on-linemonitoring functionality helps to verify thereal-time processes in the IED, which isextremely useful for troubleshooting.

6. Graphical displayeditor
The graphical display editor is used forconfiguring the display of an IED. Thegraphical display consists of one or morepages. A display page contains the drawing
area where the actual display configuration ismade. A display is configured by draggingpredefined graphical symbols from a libraryonto the drawing area. The directed link toolcan be used to draw connections betweensymbols. Every symbol type has acorresponding representation in both theANSI and the IEC symbol palettes. Symbolscan be connected to the applicationconfiguration.

8. Parameter setting
The parameter setting of PCM600 allows theuser to view and set IED parameters offline(stored in the tool) and online (stored inboth, tool and IED). The parameters can beread from the IED to PCM600 or written fromPCM600 to the IED while the IED is inservice. In addition, the user can export andimport the parameters for test sets in XRIOformat (e.g. Omicron Test Universe).
The parameter setting function can be usedin two different modes. The normal modeallows the IED protection engineer to quicklyview and change the most commonly usedparameters, whereas the advanced modeunveils all parameters that can be set.
PCM600 further offers a filtering functionallowing the user to view all IED parametersor the parameters related to a specificfunction block. In addition, the user canchoose to only view parameters that havebeen changed or parameters with valuesdeviating from the IED’s setting. Changedparameters with different values in the tooland in the IED are clearly indicated.

9. Signal monitoring
The signal monitoring function provides theuser with online information about the
measured values and displays the status ofbinary input and output signals of an IED.Furthermore, PCM600 facilitatescommissioning and testing of physicalconnections via the signal monitoring tool(forcing of signals).
10. Event viewer
The event viewer of PCM600 enables the userto view the IEDs’ sequence of eventsinformation including timestamps. The eventlog facilitates detailed post-fault analyses offaults and disturbances.
11. Disturbance handling
PCM600 offers effective handling andmonitoring of disturbance records from theIEDs. The disturbance files stored in thestandard COMTRADE format allow the userto view the disturbance record usingWavewin™ software or any commerciallyavailable disturbance analyzer supporting theCOMTRADE format. If required, the reportlayout and contents can be adapted to user-specific needs.
By means of the task scheduler of PCM600,the records can be set to be automaticallyread from the IED. The task scheduler is anindependent process and does not requirePCM600 to be activated. After receiving thefile, PCM600 automatically creates adisturbance report, which can immediately beforwarded to subscribers by e-mail. Such anotification shortens the time fromdisturbance detection to corrective action.
