NETWORK WITH PR AGENCY DECISION-MAKERSCounselors Academy is a special interest section of the Public Relations Society of America. Boasting nearly 400 members, these business owners are true entrepreneurs committed to preserving an open, thriving peer network that advances the caliber of counseling firms in North America.

A FEW FACTS ABOUT US• Approximately 85 percent of our members are senior executives (i.e., president, CEO or principal) at their public relations/marketing agencies with the remaining members largely at the VP level. They are the key decision-makers at their firms.

• Three-quarters of our members report having worked more than 20 years in the industry.

• Member firms range from multiple offices to independent consultancies. Most are based in the United States or Canada.

• Fee incomes for member firms:

o Under $500,000: 37 percento $500,000–$999,999: 17 percento $1 million–$4,999,999: 35 percento Above $5 million: 11 percent

KEY EVENTS AND DATES

• Counselors Academy annual Spring Conference - spend two days with PR agency influencers, May 7 to 9, 2017 at the Hyatt Olive Eight, Seattle, Washington

• Counselors Academy breakout sessions and dine-around at PRSA International Conference, October 2017, Boston, Massachusetts • Regional meetings in key cities in the US and Canada (TBD)

• Monthly webinars - exclusive learning sessions, led by sponsors and partners

CONNECT WITH US

Our members rely on a variety of partners to enhance best practices and drive their businesses.

• Members are interested in products and services such as measurement, social and traditional media content optimization and distribution, media relations databases and software, project management and productivity software, tools to manage agency operations including human resources, insurance, legal and finance.

• We promote our sponsor partners’ brands, products and/or services to members through various channels during the year.

• We offer opportunities for our sponsor partners to provide meaningful content to members through professional development programming.

• We invite sponsor partners to join us at official events such as annual conferences to network with members.

Annual Conference:

Each year, up to 200 agency leaders participate in the Counselors Academy Annual Conference. With general sessions featuring notable keynote speakers, more than 30 facilitated breakout sessions, roundtables and other presentations, this event is often referred to as the “best professional development conference of the year” by our members.

Counselors Academy Members-Only Webinar:

These one-hour web/phone sessions are offered only to section members and allow for greater participation and dialogue given the smaller group size.

PRSA Webinar:

These one-hour web/phone sessions are offered to all members of PRSA (20,000 + total membership) thus offering a much larger audience. These sessions tend to be broader in scope since they are open to the entire PRSA membership.

Regional Events:

The Counselors Academy brings together senior-level PR counselors at agencies with the goal to help improve participating firms’ operations, business development success and profitability in an in-person, interactive program.

Sponsor partners are encouraged to participate throughout the year with Counselors Academy members through our webinars, content in the section’s social media channels and at the Academy’s annual professional development conference in May 2017.
