Always improving!Recently I had the opportunity to discuss our school with our Director of Educational Leadership. Throughout our discussions and analysis of data, we have seen great improvements across the school over the past few years. Student growth has increased, student engagement has doubled and access to outside agencies has improved. This is all due to the passionate and dedicated staff, the wonderful and enthusiastic students and the support of our caring community. It takes a village to raise and educate a child and at Corowa Public School, we are doing that in style!

Let's talk about it!In a school environment, there will always be small issues that arise and we encourage communication between all parties. Please do not hesitate to call us for a phone conversation or to schedule a meeting. Open conversations are the most effective way to communicate and avoid any misinterpretation on both sides.

Year 6 Fun Day is on the way!Our Year students are getting very excited about their last few weeks at CPS before heading off to high school. The celebrations start next Friday with the Year 6 Fun Day. We have asked all students to wear school inform and bring along casual clothes (including bathers, if necessary) to change into. We make this request to ensure that all students have dry clothes to change into at the end of the day.

Book Week 19-23 Nov 2018On Friday 23 November, we are going to celebrate Book Week with a costume parade! This year's theme is 'Find Your Treasure' and all students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.

Parents are welcome to attend our Book Week Parade, which will take place in the hall at 9.00am.

Please do not feel that you have to purchase an expensive costume for your child to participate. Fairy, pirate, princess, sport star and adventurous kids in their special clothes are all easy options. Remember a lot of book characters are ordinary kids doing extraordinary things, so mufti dress is fine.

Stage 1 boogie down!Stage 1 students tapped, twisted and twirled their way through Tuesday afternoon! Students performed in groups in front of their peers, did the chicken dance and the heel and toe

dance, as well as a bit of free-styling!

Getting Healthy with Harold!Healthy Harold is visiting CPS at the moment to teach our students all about health, safety and

being a great friend!

Remembrance Day - 11 NovemberAll Corowa Public School students are invited to represent our school at the parade to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Armistice of 1918.

We will be marching in the parade that will move up Sanger Street on Sunday 11 November.

Students need to wear their school uniforms and meet outside the Commonwealth Bank at 10:30am. The parade will commence at 10:40am.

Staff will accompany the students in the parade and supervise them during the short ceremony where the School Captains will lay a wreath. At the completion of the ceremony there will be a BBQ, supplied by the Corowa Lions Club, at the RSL Park and everyone is welcome to attend.

Stage 1 tradies build dream homes!Possum, Wallaby and Kangaroo students tried their hands at building houses this week in the

library as part of their studies on built environments. They we so creative!

On Thursday 1 November at 12.30pm, we sang the Count Us In song with 700000 students and teachers from school around Australia. This year, 3500 schools participated in the event and it was wonderful! We watched a live stream of the event in the hall and saw other students singing with us.

The whole school practiced really hard with the help of Ms Lieschke and it payed off – we sang perfectly!

Returning Permission NotesParents and students are reminded that notes and money must be returned on or before the date specified or your child will not be allowed to attend the excursion. This is due to the new NSW Department of Education financial system and our need to meet payment deadlines.

Payment plans may be put in place if necessary, but must be organised with the principal ahead of time.
