2019 Chairman Letter June 2019
Yetta Hey!
We have the Indians game on a Friday this year. Don’t forget to RSVP by
June 12th. The Mohican Campout is Father’s Day weekend. This is a family
event!!! Come and have a great time canoeing, camping, and eating corn.
I didn’t get to attend this year, but I hear that Camp Fitch was great. No rain,
bonfires on the beach, perennials being planted by the horse barn. I even heard
some other campers took the council fire pallets… Sounded like a great time…
Breakfast in the Park went smoothly, except for the tick issue, but, hey, we didn’t
have bees! A cool event coming up in July is the Captains game and sleepover. I
always liked this event, but I am a baseball fan.
We have a new event this year. The Cleveland Metroparks Rising Waters
Overnight event is July 16th. The deadline is approaching fast so please review the
event details and look online via the links provided. If you have any questions
about the event contact the OIC.

We have some exciting news about your overnight!
As you may have heard, we have a large special event coming to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo this
summer—Asian Lanterns is back with all new lanterns and an even bigger display!
https://www.news5cleveland.com/entertainment/its-back-cleveland-metroparks-zoo-
release-details-of-asian-lantern-festival-this-summer
What does that mean for your Rising Waters Overnight? Seriously, this is all good information
to know.
1. Directions (see map also) to Lion Lot, come in from Fulton Parkway

To Fulton Parkway Zoo entrance from north of Cleveland:
From I-90: Take I-71 South, exit at Fulton Road. Turn left at Fulton Road and follow Fulton
Road/Fulton Parkway South to Wildlife Way. Turn left on Wildlife Way to Zoo entrance.
2. Parking in Lion Lot
Included is your unique overnight parking pass for your night. You’re going to need to
keep this handy to show to the attendants at the gates. In the late evening summer sun,
it’s very hard to see inside car dashboards, so you will need to actually roll down the
window and show the traffic control personnel. You will need a copy for each vehicle.
3. Running Late
We understand that with the summer season, (and especially with special events in town
from Asian Lanterns to the All-Star Game), traffic can be a snarly mess. If you or a member
of your group is running behind or stuck on a highway, please call the main zoo reception
line (216) 661-6500, and let us know so we don’t think you’ve accidentally forgotten to
come!
4. Arrival Gate
Lucky you, you’ll have special parking in the Lion Lot. With the expected traffic this event
brings, our events specialists recommend coming into the zoo from Fulton Parkway to
gate K2. (pic)

View from Main Gate
5. Night Walk
Of course, we try to let you see the lanterns on your night walk!
Gate K2
Gate K2 is a door-sized gate across from the Lion Lot on
the side furthest from the Main Gate. You will pass gate
K first. K is a vehicle sized gate next to the Main Gate
entrance.
You’ll be parking in the Lion Lot, closest to gate K2.
