Course DescriptionThe IBUS Breast Imaging School is recognized as a leading international provider of imaging education andupdates for the diagnosis and management of breast diseases. The “IBUS Update in Breast Imaging, Interventions, Management” course is arranged with academic lectures, interactive presentations and participant discussions, practical workshops based on the optimization ofimaging equipment parameters, a review of the types of needle biopsy procedures, and the selection ofinterventional procedures to achieve optimal results. The lectures and workshop sessions are provided by leading Italian and International experts on breast imaging, and the course aims to provide participants with the opportunity to become familiar with recent developments inthe knowledge of pathology and technology related to breast imaging that have become increasingly importantin this discipline. At the end of the course all participants should be able to: understand the interrelationship between breastdisease and images; achieve increased confidence in the assessment and management by using a multidisciplinary approach for benign and malignant lesions; have competence in the use of the BI-RADS categoriesfor Rx-mammography, ultrasound and MRI; select the most-appropriate image-guided percutaneous needlebiopsy procedure; determine the preoperative staging of the disease in order to select the most effectivesurgical strategy; become familiar with advances in technology such as 4D ultrasound, automated breastultrasound (ABUS), elastography, digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). The course content is structured to demonstrate the capabilities of modern breast imaging so that a greater numberof physicians are able to make a more accurate diagnosis of early breast cancers which is the key to winning the waron this disease.
