3 Important Things to Remember

• Start when pup is 7 or 8 weeks old

• Between periods, ask them to handle & pass the puppy

• Show them how to pet and gently handle a puppy

Scary Stuff

• Nothing scares a very young puppy

• New things often scare an adolescent puppy

• Introduce your puppy to lots of new things

Places to Go

• Take your puppy in the car (crated is safer)

• Take your puppy in your arms into the mall

Underfoot

• Puppy will get used to the surfaces in your home

• The world is bigger than that...

• There’s concrete,asphalt,beach rocks, sand...

• Metal grilles in sidewalks,plastic ground sheets, rubber door mats...

Building Confidence

• Get out. Go to Places. Be Friendly.

• Encourage everyone to meet & treat your new puppy
