Program Overview
The QI Award Program provides health departments with a hands-on opportunity to learn and apply QI to make incremental improvements with the guidance of an experienced QI Coach and participate in the Community of Practice for Public Health Improvement (COPPHI)
The QI projects completed under the Award Program will be submitted to PHQIX.org, an online resource of QI projects we’ll learn more about over the next 2 days

QI CoachingWhat should I expect from my QI coach?• Technical expertise: The provision of incremental
education/training• Objective input: The provision of objective input that
will help provoke critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the QI process
• Real experience: The provision of information and guidance as you go through the improvement process
• Clear expectations: The provision of information to help you be clear about what comes next (e.g., when is the next call/communication, etc., what is my homework, etc?)
• Regular Check-ins scheduled in advance.
What is expected of Me/My Site?
• Take guidance of coaches and be open to coach feedback
• Use the full 15 hours/be available to coaching• Ask your coach if you do not understand something• Participate in the process (participate in the calls)• Share your work with the QI coach (even if it’s not
