Teddy Bear’s Picnic Students found ‘bear footprints’ on the walkways, look out! There were bears on the loose in the school grounds! To further practice our road safety skills the whole school visited the local tennis courts where we played games and then we settled in at the park for our ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’. As the song, “If you go down in the woods today….” played, students had lunch and ate Teddy Bear biscuits which they had decorated with Barb. All the Teddy Bears which were brought along to the picnic by the kids had a terrific time and enjoyed the parachute games and ‘throwing the bee into the bee hive’. A most enjoyable event!

School Improvements In recent times Quaama PS has been fortunate to secure new carpeting in the 2/3 and 4/5/6 rooms. The administration building and library are the newest recipients. Mrs Summers now has a most colourful library, and will soon have some new furniture to complete the new look.

The Sandpit has been refreshed and is very popular with students. A great deal of heavy (Tonka) earth moving machinery has been brought in by students, resulting in major engineering feats being achieved. Ms Buteux now has a warm Reef Room for winter, which will be fully appreciated by students and reading tutors. The old oil filled column heater was totally inadequate for the space. A reverse cycle air conditioner was installed last week. We are currently seeking advice on how to repair and extend the life of the shade sail over the concrete area near the K/1 room. Repairing the shade sail will be a very costly exercise at the school’s expense. The orchard project has taken a great step forward. Watch this space! School Uniform With the colder weather arriving, many students are not in full school uniform. There are many benefits to having a strong school identity. Please try and ensure that the students are wearing a red school jumper and blue pants. The school is a sun-smart school and wearing of hats at playtimes is enforced. Please ensure your child has a navy blue hat. Hats may be purchased from the Uniform shop for $10.

Athletics Training Regular athletics training has been taking place in long jump, high jump, shot put, and discus this term in preparation for our QPS Representation Trials Carnival, scheduled for 13 June. Students 8 years and older will compete in the field events to determine our three school representatives, who will compete against Central Tilba PS at the athletics carnival on the 27 June. Please note there are no ribbons awarded for our ‘Trials Carnival’. The trials carnival is an opportunity to come and support your child, who may not usually compete at a higher level. More details to come closer to the event.

Volunteer’s Week Quaama PS would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful volunteers who give freely of their time to make our small school such a great place to learn. Regards Mark
