Concern For Slum Dwellers

In November 2014, the Vadodara Municipality evicted about 2000 families from Kalyannagar.

They plan a river front scheme to beautify the city. Shifting these families to distances of upto 15 kms, destroyed their education in the middle of the academic year. These children could not travel large distances daily without financial support . Our trust has taken this responsibility until the end of this academic year. The target is to see that no child is deprived of education.

The 8th Financial Aid Programme of Zidni Ilma Charitable Trust was held at Wadi, Jehangirpura, Vadodara on Sunday, October 26, 2014. 345 boys and girls from economical weaker Muslim families in Gujarat were eligible for total scholarships of Rs 40.52 lacs.

So far the trust has totally extended financial support worth above Rs 1.75 crores to over 1750 needy of which 560 were girls. All were studying in professional courses of medicine, engineering and science. The large number of girl scholars was a sign of the community turning towards quality education.

Chief Guest was the former Gujarat Finance Minister Shri Sanat Mehta. The ninety years old dynamic socialist inspired the audience with the vision and challenge of a society free of the prejudices of gender, religion or caste.

The Vadodara social activist Janab M. Sadiq Patel and the Municipal Corporator Shri Chandrakant Srivastava were also honoured on the occasion.

We are deeply grateful to over a hundred individuals and trusts who contributed to our Zakat and Lillah accounts. The principal donors were :

Unique Feature

ZICT has by now completed seven years of useful & fruitful service to the community.

But, believe it, the organization works without having a premise called “OFFICE” in the technical sense. The address C/o Dudhwala Traders is in fact a business place of a member. Located in the heart of Vadodara it is a makeshift arrangement for convenience sake.

Right from inception all the transactions of ZICT are carried out by the members only at their own houses.

So, ZICT does not have to spend anything towards office rent, electricity charges, maintenance etc.

Similarly, it does not have any paid staff such as clerk, peon, sweeper, etc. So, its expense towards 'salary' is nil. Members volunteer to perform relevant duties.

Expenses on tea or snacks in meetings are also borne by the members.

ZICT thus works with zero administrative expenses.
