FREMONT UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT

LEARNING for lifr

FOR LIFE

Sunnyvale - Cupertino Adult School

Dear Community,

I am pleased to report that we have had a record-breaking year for our Adult High School Diploma and GED programs. This year we have a total of 64 graduates for our July graduation, up from 41 students in 2012-2013. In addition, we served nearly 600 of our high school students through night school, lending support to our high school graduation rate and resulting housing prices.

As the Legislature begins to consider how we serve Adult Secondary Education, English as a Second Language, and Career Technical Education students in the future—much of this work will be a unification of services that we are now labeling “transition” (counseling, job readiness and referral, academic skill building, etc.). I am pleased that the Governor and Legislature value K-12 Adult Education and are working to serve our communities in their neighborhoods (versus just at the Community Colleges). To see more about this work, join us on Facebook for regular updates at our school site page (https://www.facebook.com/scAdultEd) or the Principal’s page (https://www.facebook.com/PrincipalPeggyRaunLinde).

I would also recommend the following legislator’s Facebook pages, both actively working to promote Adult Education funding for our district and others: Assemblyman Rich Gordon (https://www.facebook.com/richgordon2010?fref=ts) and Senator Paul Fong (https://www.facebook.com/paulfong28?fref=ts).

Finally, FUHSD Adult School would like to thank the following vendors for their generous donations that helped make Pi Week 2014 a success. Please join us in returning the support for these community entities.

Peggy Raun-Linde, Ed.D.Principal Thank You
