Question 1In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real
media products?
• My magazine challenges forms and conventions of real media products through the features that I have included. These features include Mastheads, Drop caps, and even barcodes. Whilst creating my magazine I was always looking at other magazines for inspiration. So some features that I have used were originated from popular magazines and so my magazine does have conventional features.
• My magazine is a Christian magazine and it is aimed at 16-35 year olds. Through my magazine I hoped to portray a modern style whilst including relevant content for my chosen audience. I chose to use a pallet that would appeal to the whole of my audience.

Comparison
Similarities:
They both feature a subject who takes up a large
area of the page. Both of the subjects are facing
the reader (Direct Address), this is used to
engage the readers.
They each have a QR code featured at the side
and below that is a barcode. These are used to
gain further access to the magazines external
features; the barcode would be used to sell the,
magazine in a store and the QR code could be
used by a reader to gain access to online
material related to the magazine.
Cover lines are used in both covers. These are
used to clearly identify certain features of the
magazine contents.
Differences:
The magazine title is placed behind the subject’s
head. This is done to signify the importance of
the subject.
The background of the vibe magazine is an
actual image (of a plane). Whereas my
magazine only uses the subject, the background
of the original image was cut out.

Comparison
Similarities:
They both feature a subject who takes up a large
part of the page. The clothes that the subjects
are wearing have been chosen specifically to
match the background and text colours.
Both of the subjects aren’t looking at the camera
when the image is taken. This makes the page
more interesting as it is different from most
contents pages that make their subjects look at
the camera.
Differences:
My magazine has an advert featured at the
bottom of the page. Whereas the Vibe
magazine’s page doesn’t feature any ads at all.
My contents page incorporates the text
“contents” make it clear which page it is.
Although Vibe’s contents doesn’t do the same
but I think readers would still be able to know
that it is a contents page
