Ancillary Products & Trailer

By having a film poster, front cover film magazine would help advertise my film trailer because people would know about the film trailer itself more through either the poster or front cover magazine. My film poster as well as front cover magazine could be advertised in shops, billboards, bus stops, on buses and more. This would reach a much more broader audience because many people who are aged differently as well as interest would see my poster as well as front cover magazine and would want to see a preview of the trailer. So by having my ancillary tasks I would be able to advertise and present my film trailer.

I decided to have these different ways to reach and target my target audience.• Present the film as a poster• Present the film in a front

cover film magazine• Present the film as trailer

Here is feedback from test 1.

• Use of colours make the poster look mysterious and gloomy, making it suit to urban drama type films.

• Use of font suits the urban drama genre because it looks like graffiti.

• Positioning of the text makes it look like a film poster.

• Colours are dark which make the poster look like something bad happen.

Test 1(Front Cover Magazine)

Test feedback 1

• Use of font styles make the front cover magazine look professional.

• Positioning of the text looks like actual front cover magazines such as: sell lines, masthead, barcode, tagline etc.

• Main image suits the masthead ‘Capture’ as if they were taking a photo and it was captured.

• House style theme suits to the urban drama theme of having dark colours that could suggest danger.

• Reviews of recent urban dramas.

Comparisons

Here I used the Vibe magazine of Eminem to help me create my front cover magazine. As you can see there are similar conventions that influenced me into creating my front cover magazine. In the Vibe magazine the sell lines are placed around the main image, however I subverted from this and put it on top of the main image which still looks clear. I also have the masthead at the top of the main image so that you can see the whole image and whoever on it.

Comparisons

Here is another comparison that influenced me in creating my film poster. Using this film poster called ‘Bullet Boy’ which is a Urban Drama film, helped me think about using dark colours which could connate darkness and that something bad is going to happen. I also used the effect of font style which helped me decide on using a dark, bold font style to set the scene of a urban drama film that it is to do with bad things such as: murder, crime, sex, drugs etc. In addition my tagline for my film poster is kind of similar to the bullet boy tagline, which is to do with what someone in a urban drama area would face in reality, which is basically how would they survive, who do they follow etc.
