For my double-page spread (ancillary product) I have specifically used the colours light blue, white and black. My reasons for this is because the text should always be written in a bold (black) colour as it is clear and easy for the readers to read the writing. The colours of the text also complement each other and can also been clearly seen when reading it as they are dark. The light colour backgrounds also make reading the text more clearer than if the background colour was dark.

The two pictures on the right hand side has a thick black border to draw the reader’s attention to it and make it more interactive. The picture on the left hand side (of the outside of the school) also has a black border to match the other pictures on the page and so that it draw’s the reader’s attention in.

For the poster I created (ancillary product) I have specifically used the colours black and white. My reasons for this is because I want the poster to be clear and simple so that the message gets put across to the audience without any confusions or complications.

I have changed the colour of the image so that it also is black and grey. This is so that t fits into the colour scheme and the message want to send to the audience.

Double Page Spread:The title is written in bold and is a size 28. The title must be this size (the biggest size over the double page spread) as this is what I want the readers to notice first.

Underneath the title the paragraph written in blue is size 16 as this informs the readers on what will be discussed in the double page spread. The text on the bottom right hand corner and on the right had side is written in size 14. Size 14 is the standard font size for magazine spreads.

Poster:As this is a poster, the title must be big enough for passers by to see. So the size of the font is 56. The text directly underneath the title is smaller, size 24. The date and time is size 38.

I have used this image on my double-page spread magazine because for the opening of my documentary I have included an establishing shot of the school (similar to this) where the outside of the school building is shown to the audience.

The other image is of 3 bricks which is featured in the poster. This gives a hint to the viewers that the documentary involves children and probably something to do with education or school without reading the title.

The last picture (featured in the double page spread) gives an insight into the documentary which has been used to tempt the readers to tune in and watch it. The two images are from different scenes which makes it more interesting and intriguing for the readers.

Font TypeThe font type I used for the double page spread was : “Calibri (Body)”. I thought that this font was suitable as it is easy to read and has no unusual shape text for example: Blackadder ITC the readers would not be able to easily read the article. I have used the same font throughout the double page spread as I wanted to create continuity for the readers whilst they were reading.

However, for the poster I used a much more clearer font because I wanted the audience to be able to see it from a distance (i.e. from a billboard) or easily when printed in a newspaper. The date and time is Channel 4’s own text as I wanted the audience to automatically know that the documentary will be aired on channel 4 without even seeing the Channel’s logo.
