QUESTION 4: HOW DID YOU USE NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN

THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND

EVALUATION STAGES?

I used the digital cameras throughout my work in most of the process, I used them for practice shots and in the actual shots for the magazine and the posters. I not only used the

camera but everything that came with it. The different flashes, lights, umbrellas, tripods and spot lights. It helped

me create the effects I was looking to create and it also developed my skills further in taking photographs. I took

this camera in the studio and sometimes on location. I felt that doing this has made me competent and ready to use

the technology again.

DIGITAL CAMERAS

I used the digital video recorders in the planning stage and the development stage. I used it to do practice shots and to see what it would be like to do certain camera angles etc.

Along side this camera I also used its tripod which was adapt so I could help with such shots as panning shots. I

also used it when I was filming the trailer. I found the camera very easy to use and it has taught me techniques such as keeping a steady shot and other techniques that

make filming professional.

DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER

I love working on Mac computers. Before media studies, I had not used one before. I used them in

the first year but even more in this year and I have learnt even more techniques on it. I find

using macs very user friendly and it think it works well with the software on it too. When I began

using them last year I found it quite difficult as it was all completely new to me but I now really like

using them. I used the macs in every stage; research, planning and evaluation stages.

APPLE MAC COMPUTERS

I used photo shop in every part of my media. Throughout planning, making mood boards, making the products;

posters, magazines and the trailer for the inter titles and the credits. I have also used it in the evaluation stage as

well. I am constantly learning more in photo shop. I really love photo shop and not only use it in this subject but I have also used it others taking all the techniques that I have learnt from doing media. You can create so many

effects on it and although it may not be easy for everyone, I have learnt so much and I really don’t think I could have

made, planned or evaluated the products in the same way without it.

PHOTOSHOP

IPhoto was a piece of software that was available on the mac computers. I used it to upload all the photos that I took and it also helped my select the ones I wanted. I found it really easy to use and also used it to select, crop and make slight changes to

the photographs.

I PHOTO

I used photo booth for my research and evaluation of my product. It is another piece of software that was on the mac

computers that I had used before. I is very easy to use and I mainly used it to get

audience feedback and to video my thoughts.

PHOTO BOOTH

I have used blogger throughout the entire process documenting all stages of

production and showing all the research I have done. I have used it to an extent like an online diary. I always find it very simple to use and think it is a really good way of

showing the process of my work.

BLOGGER

This is another piece of software on apple computers that can help you create sounds and songs originally. I used this to add sound effects

to our trailer. I only used this software very briefly but I believe that I have developed my skills on it and will create more music in the

future.

GARAGE BAND

I have used this in many stages, when I was planning the trailer and also when I evaluated all of the products but

mainly for actually making the trailer. I worked in a group so we all used final cut for the making of the trailer, putting

clips on; adding effects, cutting, trimming, editing, shortening, extending etc. We also added sound in final cut. We couldn’t have made our trailer as well without final cut and although quite difficult to use at the beginning, I got

used to it and I extended my skills on this piece of software even further.

FINAL CUT EXPRESS

Prezi is an online presentation tool that make presenting materials such as text, pictures and videos with ease and in

a really interesting way. I use this software to present, make, edit, zoom and create presentations. This is a really

great piece of software of conveying information and it also good at showing your thought process.

PREZI

I use YouTube all the time, almost every day so I am very used to it now and now can easily use, upload, watch and

download videos. I used this in most stages. A lot for research and evaluation and it is a great source of

information.

INTERNET RESEARCH

I used PowerPoint to create a presentation for my evaluation. They are really useful to use to put

clear and easy to read information. Slide share is really good as you can also watch others videos

and I find using these pieces of software very easy even though I didn’t use them very often.

POWERPOINT & SLIDE SHARE

This was the first time I ever used this software. I used it as it comes with a very useful “download helper” which I have used during the evaluation stage. It was very easy to use. I used it when I

was on you tube and then I could download the video simply by using the icon at the top

FIRE FOX

Throughout researching, making and evaluating my coursework I have used many types of

technology and software. I have learnt many things about the use and functionality of

everything I used. I have really enjoyed each stage of making my products and everything I

used to get there.
