Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience.

Mise en scene

We needed to have mise en scene that fit with the thriller genre and to address our audience. In the target audience research we found out that our audience was interested in parties and our project was set in the aftermath of a party, therefore we needed to get conventional props like alcohol bottles and bags. The costumes were also conventional for the age bracket of our characters. The setting appealed to our target audience because it is conventional of the target audience to hang around with their friends at the park drinking and having fun.

Soundtrack

The soundtrack we used was conventional of the genre. While searching for soundtracks we came across two soundtracks by the artist Kevin MacLeod that we could use. They were both free and we could use them for whatever we wished as long as we attributed them to that artist. We eventually found a third soundtrack that could work. The soundtrack was both conventional and fit with the audience from our research.

Character relations.

In the production we tried to include characters within the target audience age, this worked because it made the characters a little more relatable for then audience. We only used people within the ages of 16-17 because the whole focus was on these characters being isolated and alone so we did not need any adults in the production. Also adults were not in our target range, mainly people in their late teens or early twenties. The audience however wasn’t able to relate with the characters because they were portrayed in a questionable manner
