SUZUKI

Suzuki's portable four-strokeoutboards make transporteasier and operation moreuser friendly.

Knowing that smafl portables like the DF4, DF5 and DF6 get trans-

ported a lot, we set out to design this trio of outboards compact

and lightweight to make transporting easier. Not to stop there, we

added some features that would make their operation easy and

more user friendly. As four-strokes, these three outboards deliver

clean, economical operation, and being made by Suzuki, you know

they'll deliver excellent power, performance, and durability.

Tiller HandleAll models are equipped with a tiller

handle that extends out from the longsteering bracket. This design positions theoperator further forward in the boat toprovide better weight distribution which,helps in getting an inflatable to plane quicker.

The outboard is designed to turn 90-degrees both left and right of center. Thisfeature helps docking and tight turning of theboat while its 90-degree stopping pointsprovide an easy to recognize reference of theoutboard's angle.

With the tiller handle attached to thesteering bracket rather than the motor itself,and the utilization of a large rubber mountinside the same steering bracket, vibration inthe tiller handle has been greatly reduced.Steering is smoother due to the utilization of

a plastic steering upper bush placed betweenthe steering bracket and the swivel bracket.Steering tension can be tailored to fit personneeds with a large friction adjuster to regulatesteering effort and feel.

Carrying the outboard is made easier withthe incorporation of a large, ring shapedcarrying handle. Designed with smooth edgesand lacking any sharp angles, the large

carrying handle offers plenty of space forboth hands.

Tilt Up HandleA tilt up handle built into the backside of

the engine cover offers easy tilting of theoutboard. Pulling back on the handle makestilting of the engine from the normal driveposition toany one of thetwo shallowwater drivepositions ortilt upposition asimpleoperation.

ProvidingPower

All three models utilize an OHV singlecylinder four-stroke engine. At 138cmÿ theyoffer the largest displacement single cylinderfound in this class of outboards, but compactand light weight design has kept their weightcomparable to others in their class. Produc-ing excellent low to mid range torque theseengines, in combination with their lightweight, deliver excellent acceleration.

Also, four-stroke operation provides theDF4,5 and 6 with greater fuel-efficientoperation, less vibration and quiet operationwhile eliminating the need for mixing oil withthe fuel, etc. This keeps your boatingexperience clean, pleasant and user friendly.

Large ClutchLever

All outboardsare fitted with alarge plastic clutchlever that pro-motes easiershifting.

Digital CDI with Ignition CoilThese outboards are the first to utilize a

Digital CDI ignition systemequipped with an ignition coil.The single unit system iscompact, lightweight andstrong against corrosion. Italso acts as an over-rev limiterwhile providing stable idling.

Optional AlternatorAn optional 12V 6A alternator is the

largest alternator offered in this class. Thealternator is designed to provide chargingpower from a low 2,200 rpm.

Integral Fuel TankAll models are equipped with a built-in 1.5-

liter fuel tank that is the largest fuel tankoffered in thesame four-

stroke class.Using a 12ft.Aluminum boatin an in-housetest the out-board ran for atotal of 45 rain(approximately2.0-liter/hour)on a full tank ofgas. This makesshort excursions possible without the use ofan external fuel tank. For extended use, theDF5 and DF6 are equipped with a remote fuelconnector for use with an external tank(optionally available on the DF4).

Pilot Water Hole and Fresh WaterFlushing System

The pilot water hole is located upstream ofthe cylinder to confirm that there is watercirculation soon after the motor is started.The pilot water hole's water inspection tube isremovable to permit cleaning of the tube andthe attachment of an optional connector thatallows freshwater flushing of the water jacket.
