COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is for the dreamer who wants to work in an environment that is full of colour, light and beautiful pieces. It is ideal for an individual who spends time sketching designs on mannequins, designing patterns of pastels or bold prints and loves the sound of a thrumming sewing machine and rows of coat hangers clinging with eye-catching garments. You’re religiously keeping up to date with global fashion trends and styles and have an eye for beauty and aesthetic detail. You’re up for spending long hours bent over sewing machines, and you’re not afraid to get your hands pricked with needles.

What you’ll learn throughout this course is how to work in a hands-on environment, developing both high end couture garments as well as ready to wear pieces. You will be taught how to think conceptually and create your designs using both digital and manual tools and

techniques. By the end of your degree you will master the

process of garment-making - from concept to catwalk!

INDUSTRY EVENTS AND PERKS

In your third year of study you will begin work on your final collection, this is where you pull together all of your work from the previous 2 years and bring to life your dreams. As a graduating student, you will be able to present your final range to industry professionals and the wider public at Raffles’ annual live fashion show.

Furthermore, 8 lucky students are hand selected each year to showcase their designs on the international stage at China Graduate Fashion Week!

But wait, there is more… Raffles College is the only private education provider to showcase its graduates work at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. It doesn’t get much more real-life than that!

Your dream workplace is colourful, light-filled, full of beautiful things: sketches of mannequins dressed in floaty pastels or bold patterns or tailored crisp monochrome, the thrum of sewing machines, rows of hangers holding clothes of your creation – there, soft silk meets cool leather meets fine, hand-stitched embroidery. Discover a career in couture with fashion design at Raffles.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS FASHION DESIGN COURSEWork hands-on and develop designs for both ready-to-wear and haute couture collections, using digital and manual tools and techniques. We prepare you for an industry that’s demanding that you’re multi-skilled in these areas. You’ll explore the garment-making process in full, building technical know-how in every stage, from concept to stitching, catwalk to selling. You’ll work with your collections through production and marketing – and showcase them at our end-of-year fashion show.

FASHION DESIGN IS FOR YOU IF…You get thrills running your hand over quality textiles, dream in vibrant colour, and keep up to date with global fashion trends and styles religiously. You’re creative, and you’ve got an eye for beauty and aesthetic detail. You’re up for spending long hours bent over sewing machines, and you’re not afraid to get your hands pricked with needles.

WHY CHOOSE RAFFLES FOR YOUR FASHION DESIGN COURSE?You’ll work in small groups on presentations that simulate real-world professional environments, and develop a portfolio to help you land an exciting first job. And, of course, the jewel in the crown is Raffles’ annual live fashion show at Carriageworks, Redfern. You’ll get to present your final range to fashion industry professionals and the wider public. Plus, eight lucky students are selected each year to showcase their designs on the international stage at China Graduate Fashion Week. Raffles College is the first and only international institute to take part in this prestigious event. We’re also the only private education provider to showcase its graduates work at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. It doesn’t get much more real-life than that.

GCOURSE OVERVIEW

This course is for the fashionista who gets excited by large fashion brands, up and coming designers and fashion icons. This individual spends majority of their time reblogging, tweeting and instagramming all their latest (and the worlds) fashion trends. Fashion is what you live and breathe for, though the thought of creating a garments potentially scares you. You, instead, vision yourself as the one who forecasts the fashion trends before they even hit the stage and streets or would love to see your name next to the word ‘stylist’ in a Vogue magazine. You have an eye for style, though you are aware that clothing needs more than just nice detailing to sell.

Raffles College will teach you the fundamental skills that you need to work in the fashion industry, which includes branding, management, buying, styling and digital marketing. With this new skillset, by your third year you will be able take designer collections from the studio through the whole selling process which includes; the wholesale showroom and retail outlets. Executing branding and advertising strategies will be essential when you begin developing your major project (in your third year). You will create a business plan and marketing strategy of your choice, which will incorporate your presentation skills enabling you to pitch your ideas to both lectures and industry guests!

INDUSTRY EVENTS & PERKS

Our Fashion Marketing students have many opportunities to participate in industry events such as ‘RAGTRADER LIVE’. We are always approached by industry partners and more, wanting to collaborate with Raffles Fashion Marketing students.

COURSE OVERVIEW This course expands the students’ understanding of the discipline of interior design. Focusing on the relationship of the human being in a space that needs to function on both aesthetic and functional levels that eventually provides a sense of place. If you are a person that finds yourself excited about entering certain spaces, and you are aware of the materials, lighting, and spatial composition within a building, this course will build upon your interest and provide you with a solid professional education. You will understand the relationship between technological issues and design needs, and how this relationship impacts the architecture, engineering, services and construction of the space.

Before starting any interior project, you need to have an understanding of the space you will be working with and the needs and necessities of the people using the space. We will teach you everything you need to know. We will start from the fundamentals essentials – space allocation, building services, traffic flow, furniture, fixtures and surface finishes. You will complete practical projects that will ensure you develop a strong skillset in the industry program Archicad. We will also teach you how theories can underpin the understanding and articulation of design ideas and concepts. You will regularly practice your presentation skills to ‘clients’ to help refine and apply your new skills and techniques to real-life situations!

INDUSTRY EVENTS & PERKS As part of finishing your degree with Raffles College, we will host a graduate showcase where your major project (an industry level portfolio) will be on display in an exhibition style format. Raffles invites industry and media guests to the exhibition and you have the opportunity to sell yourself to these individuals.

There is no limit to the imagination, and in animation you can bring your ideas to life.

This course teaches you how to turn your imagination and the worlds you’ve only dreamed of into reality. Learn how to imbue your work with emotion, movement, and powerful stories. Ultimately you’ll graduate with creative skills that will allow you to work across industries.

INDUSTRY EVENTS & PERKS All Animation students get a chance to engage with industry in events that are hosted in Raffles as well as outside.

COURSE OVERVIEW

No matter the technological developments, no matter the mediums available – at the heart of filmmaking is storytelling. This course is for the individual who has stories to tell, and dares to dream of bigger things. You find yourself writing scripts, acting out scenes, visualising character’s reactions, listening to movie soundtracks and you see everything in a cinematic aspect ratio. The world is one big movie, with its stories waiting to be told.

In the Raffles film course you are given a chance to become an agile filmmaker. You are taught a wide range of technical skills, as well as storytelling and creative skills. Early on, we teach you the production process of filmmaking which is vital for production management. Being a design school you’ll have a chance to study broader design topics and theories. We put you in the thick of character development, making short films, documentaries and music videos. The environment you’re in is highly collaborative and you will be exposed to scores of different mediums, some of which can change your approach to filmmaking like VR and AR technology; which puts you at the forefront of a film revolution. All of these skills helps to make you a more well-rounded filmmaker, one which can more easily adapt to this changing industry.

INDUSTRY EVENTS & PERKS Our Digital Media department works with big names in the industry, who like to pick their newest recruits from within our college. You’ll join a cohort of students who work on feature films, television, music videos and much more. Companies like Double Negative, Mindconsole, Kitsune Productions and Channel 7 have worked with our students. As part of finishing your degree with Raffles College, we will host a graduate showcase where your major project will be screened in an exhibition style format.
