A memorable Uttarayan

F estivals across cultures in India have been bonding the nation for centuries. The

festive fervor and the degree to which Indians participate is elemental. Such is the festival of Uttarayan, also known as Makar Sankranti in India.

Makar Sankranti is celebrated with remarkable gusto, symbolically

celebrated as the winter harvest festival across the nation. Traditional food such as Undhiyu, Jalebi, Tal Papdi and Chikki are savored celebrating the fresh harvest. Unlike most Hindu festivals, which follow the lunar motion, Makar Sankranti follows the motion of the Sun and the word Uttarayan literally means the Sun moving into the northern axis of the earth.

The festival of Uttarayan is incomplete without flying Kites. It's a party on the terrace. From little kids to adults, everyone engages in a kite-flying frenzy. The mood is set amidst festive food, music and soaring kites, blanketing the crisp winter skies in colorful specs from morning till night to rave in fiesta fervor.

On the day of Uttarayan,

Madhubhan hosts a festive lunch buffet showcasing the traditional delicacies from the region, specially crafted by our Executive Chef. Savour rich Gujarati delicacies and an array of handpicked preparations with an appeal of the fresh harvest.

Kite enthusiasts can bask in the manicured lawns where Kite flying arrangements have been made for our guests. As winter season officially ends this day, Team Madhubhan is exhilarated to celebrate Uttarayan with you and your loved ones, rejoicing the flavors of our rich culture.
