HELD ON AUGUST 11, 2016
The mee ng on August 11, 2016 was a Business Mee ng at
which me reports were given by Director PE Paul, Director
Winston and PP Jerry for Director Diana.
BELOW ARE SUMMARIES OF THEIR REPORTS:—
Director PE Paul—FUNDRAISING CHAIR
As Chair of the Fundraising Commi�ee, Director Paul reported
on the two major fundraising projects for the year 2016-17
namely Let Muh Laugh! Comedy show and Carols by Candle-
light. Given the fast approaching deadline for the comedy
show, he reminded the Club of the sponsorship packages
which are available for the Let Muh Laugh! Produc+on which
will be held on Friday September 30, 2016. Further infor-
ma+on on raising funds for the comedy show and for sponsor-
ing the show can be obtained from Director PE Paul.
Director Winston—VOCATIONAL SERVICES CHAIR
Voca+onal director in his report appealed to the Club and
especially to younger Rotarians to dedicate more of their +me
to the Rotaract Club and Interact clubs. He commented that
the younger Rotarians especially should spend more +me with
the Rotaract members so as to encourage be�er fellowship
between the Clubs.
PP Jerry [for Director Diana—CLUB SERVICES CHAIR]
PP Jerry apologized for Director Diana who was unable to
a�end the mee+ng but who had forwarded her report to him
for presenta+on to the Club. PP Jerry reported that the
a�endance average for the month of July was 63.7% with a
low of 50.8%. Director Diana in her report reminded the Club
to register for the upcoming District and Interna+onal Confer-
ences and for the upcoming boat trip. Director Diana report-
ed that the bulle+n con+nued to be produced weekly by Rtn.
Fiona.
MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT LISA
• VISIT TO BARBADOS BY DG ROGER BOSE— the Club
was reminded that our DG will be visi+ng Barbados
during the week of October 5 to October 9th and
during this +me will meet with us.
• REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEERS—Volunteers are re-
quested to make presenta+ons to different schools
on the 4-way Test. Please indicate to President Lisa if
you can so assist.
• OUTSTANDING DUES— President Lisa reminded all
who have to date not paid their dues that these are
now outstanding and should be se�led as a ma�er of
urgency!!! Please therefore se9le all dues owing as
a priority.

Today we welcome Dr. Jo-Anne Brathwaite-Drummond
as our guest speaker who will address the Club on
SUPPORTING MENTAL HEALTH IN TEENAGERS
MEET OUR GREETERS:
Rtn. Nicholas Waithe joined the Club
on June 25, 2009. His classifica+on is Re-
fined Oil—Marke+ng and he was introduced
by PP Lionel A. Moe. Rtn. Nicholas has
served on many commi�ees including the
Voca+onal Service Commi�ee, the RYLA
Commi�ee, the Fellowship, Voca+onal Ser-
vice, History & Archives, 50th Anniversary
and Rotaract Commi�ees He con+nues to
serve on the Voca+onal Services Commi�ee.
On July 1, 2016 he was awarded with a Paul Harris fellow for his
community Challenge Faces Speak in which he raised the awareness
of the plight of homeless people in Barbados by living as a homeless
person in the City of Bridgeton for 24 hours on November 21, 2015.
Rtn. Albert Best joined the Club on De-
cember 06, 2012. He was sponsored by Past
Community Service Director Shawn Franklin.
His Classifica+on is Construc+on Services –
Architecture. Rtn. Albert is a keen Rotarian
and has served on various commi�ees includ-
ing, but not limited to, the Children’s Homes
Commi�ee, Au+sm Commi�ee, Fellowship
Commi�ee, Voca+onal Services Commi�ee,
Environment and Challenged/Senior Ci+zens
Commi�ees. Rtn. Albert con+nues to serve on the Environment
Commi�ee.
ON THE MARK, GET SET, GO ...! RCOB WAS APTLY REP-
RESENTED DURING THE 2016 OLYMPIC GAMES IN RIO,
BRAZIL : Our past SAA Rtn. Heather Tull is live in Rio. She
sends gree+ngs to the Club from the Rotary Club de
Copacabana which she visited while in Rio, Brazil. Below
are some pictures shared with the Club by Rtn. Heather.

OUR GUEST SPEAKER: Dr. Jo-Anne Brathwaite–
Drummond Dr. Brathwaite-Drummond holds a Doc-
torate of Medicine in Psychiatry with UWI, and a
Masters degree in Public Health with the University
of Liverpool. She is a consultant community psychia-
trist with the Psychiatric Hospital/Ministry of
Health, with responsibility for the Winston Sco�, Ed-
gar Cochrane and St. Philip Polyclinic catchments, in-
cluding the district hospitals Dr. Brathwaite Drum-
mond has a keen interest in the subject of mental
health of our young people and will speak to the Club
about Suppor+ng Mental Health in Teenagers.

NEWS: On August 11,
2016 Rotary International
President John Germ and Vice
President Jennifer Jones held a
live chat via social media to discuss the Rotary
Foundation centennial, the ,ight to end polio and
the 2017 upcoming Rotary Convention. On this
occasion, President John received questions in
writing on Facebook from members globally and
responded live via video on Facebook.
He reminded all Rotarians of the success made in
the eradication of polio and noted inter alia that
August 11, 2016 marked the 2nd anniversary of
polio eradication in Africa . For the bene,it of all
Rotarians he reminded that October 24, 2016 is
World Polio day.
