Rohrback Cosasco SystemsRohrback Cosasco Systems (RCS) is the world leader in corrosionmonitoring technology. Since 1950, RCS has provided leading-edge corrosionmanagement solutions for such diverse industries as oil and gas, petrochemical, water treatment, chemical, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical, and utilities.Corrosion is an enormous cost to these industries as measured in equipmentmaintenance and replacement, leaks, and system failures. RCS helpsdramatically reduce this waste by delivering corrosion management systemsthat accurately determine corrosion rates and ultimately extend asset life.

RCS provides a wide range of corrosion monitoring products to meet specificindustry needs. These range from mechanical access systems to the mostadvanced instrumentation systems that can be adapted to the most severeoperating environments.

MICROCOR Systems represent thegreatest advance in corrosion monitoringtechnology in decades, literally changingthe way companies approach corrosionmanagement. MICROCOR technologyhas the same universal applicability asElectrical Resistance (ER) systems, measuring in any corrosive medium andin extreme operating environments.Unlike ER, the high-resolution techniqueallows corrosion measurement nearly inreal time. Corrosion can now beconsidered a “process” variable.

The speed of MICROCOR approaches therapid response time of Linear PolarizationResistance (LPR) systems and providesdata 50 to 100 times faster than ER. Inone application, the use of a MICROCORsystem allowed a chemical screening tobe completed in less than 48 hours – andat 10% of the normal cost. Similarscreenings previously took weeks with ERsystems.

MICROCOR technology simply representsthe fastest, most accurate, and mostcost-efficient corrosion monitoringsystem available anywhere in the worldtoday.

MICROCOR Systems feature:

• 50-100 times faster response than ER

• 256 times higher resolution than ER

• Nearly real-time process monitoring

• Applicable in any corrosiveenvironment

• On-line or data logging systems

• Hazardous location certified

QUALITY, RELIABILITY AND SAFETY

The RCS quality assurance program is certified to ISO 9001:2000 and we were the first company inthe industry to be ISO certified. We enjoy an unsurpassed reputation for quality and reliability withinthe corrosion monitoring industry. Many of our products are certified for hazardous locations includingATEX and CE approvals. Our primary objective is to produce the safest, highest-quality instrumentationsystems that meet industry standards from design and manufacturing to installation, performanceand service.

High Resolution Monitoring

Leading the World in Corrosion Monitoring Systems

Most corrosion measurements in watersystems can be made utilizing LinearPolarization Resistance (LPR) where adirect electrochemical measurement ofcorrosion rate is possible with a singlemeasurement. These measurementsmust be accurate in order to cost-effectively apply chemical treatment towater systems. RCS has developed anadvanced line of reliable and cost-effective corrosion monitoringinstruments and probes for use in mostwater systems. By combining LPR withour patented Solution ResistanceCompensation (SRC) technology, RCSprobes and instruments can quicklyand accurately measure corrosion rateand imbalance (localized corrosiontendency). This advanced technologyallows accurate corrosion rate

measurements to be made over a widerange of conductive solutions fromseawater to condensates.

CORRATER systems are compatible withRCS data logging, remote monitoring, and on-line systems, enabling flexiblesystem design and reliable datacollection and transfer. The hand-heldCORRATER instruments are easy to use,so any water management engineer ortechnician can easily get a corrosionreading in moments. The CORRDATA®

Remote Data Collector (RDC-COT) andCORRDATA Plus PC-based softwareprovides full analysis and graphingcapabilities of continuous data.

Through a wide range of instruments,CORRATER systems can offer:

• Advanced corrosion monitoring forwater systems

• Hand-held instruments for“instantaneous” measurement

• Continuous data-logginginstruments

• Continuous monitoring instruments

• Simple data transfer to PC or datalogger

• Process temperature measurement

The RCS ULTRACORR uses ultrasonictechnology to accurately measure pipeand vessel wall thickness non-invasively.Sensors permanently mounted on theoutside of the pipe can be used to takethickness measurements in seconds, taking into account the processtemperature so that the corrosion ratecan be determined. The unit can collectdata from up to 50 measurementlocations, or it can monitor one test pointup to 1,024 times at programmedintervals, serving as a data collector.

The rugged design and user-friendlyprompts make this portable instrumentan ideal tool for in-plant or field use. TheULTRACORR comes complete with itsown PC software and it is also fullycompatible with the CORRDATA® Plus

software package as well which providespowerful graphing and analysis tools.

The RCS ULTRACORR features:

• Manual or automatic data collection

• Non-invasive corrosionmeasurement

• Permanent transducer for long-termmonitoring

• Measures corrosion and erosion

• PC software included for graphingand analysis

ULTRACORR™

Ultrasonic Corrosion and Erosion Monitoring

The RCS Integrated CorrosionManagement System (ICMS3) server isthe hub for all corrosion managementprograms. ICMS3 can monitor anynumber of MICROCOR,CORROSOMETER or CORRATERchannels. Process information can beintegrated with corrosion data, plottedin real time and correlated with otherprocess variables from the DCS orSCADA system, such as temperature, pressure, pH, oxygen level, and chemicalinhibitor concentration, to better managecorrosion.

Although designed for onsite plant use,the ICMS3 is versatile enough for useexclusively or concurrently with remotelocation data. The ICMS3 software alsoallows computers to be linked through aLAN or dial-up modem connection formulti-office or off-site monitoring.

The greatest benefit of the system is thecapability to correlate the corrosiondata with process parameters from theDistributed Control System (DCS). DCSsystems are optimized for processcontrol but do not easily allow for thecorrelation and review of process dataover days and weeks that are typicallyrequired for corrosion controlmanagement. The ICMS3 provides the

ideal solution for integration of theselonger time scale asset managementparameters.

The ICMS3 platform enables:

• Total corrosion data management

• Full network capability

• Data exchange with DCS Systems

• Correlation of corrosion & processdata

• Compatibility withCORROSOMETER, CORRATER andMICROCOR systems

• Compatibility with RCS ProbeInterface Modules (PIM’s),transmitters, and CORRDATAsystems

• Cost-effective asset management

ICMS3

RCS offers a full line of RemoteMonitoring Units (RMUs) for monitoringsystems at remote field locationsincluding cathodic protection (CP)parameters, corrosion monitoring dataand other process information. RMUscan be line-powered or alternately withbattery or solar power.

The CORD-COM is a fully integratedinstrument that includes the CRMRemote Monitoring Software package. This program can remotely program andmonitor multiple field units with a fewclicks of a mouse. The CORD-Pagerutilizes two-way paging technology forcost-efficient data transmission ofmonitored parameters. The CORD-XL

module can simultaneously monitor andrecord cathodic protection voltages andcurrents in a package that can be insertedin a standard CP test station.

For CP current interruption applicationsRCS manufactures the CORI GPS, aportable system utilizing GPS (GlobalPositioning System) technology forunprecedented precision in interrupttiming. The interrupt timing is fullyprogrammable in order to meet a widerange of customer requirements.

Use an RMU system for:

• Power failure detection

• Monitoring corrosion potentials andenvironment data

• Tracking rectifiervoltage and current

• Detecting alarms and signaling alerts

• Flexible datacollection andtransmission options

• Modular expandability
