reading data centre plan

WelcOMe tO OUr neXt generatiOn data centre.

Our new next generation facility in reading is the blueprint for the future of “energy efficient” technology and equipment. Built to tier 3 standards and with a focus on innovative power usage, cooling, monitoring and maintenance, the data centre is designed to provide reliable, secure and affordable colocation outside of central london and the M25 ring.

3 generators with inbuilt resilience, built to tier 3 design guaranteeing 100% power availability.

external vents/grilles - utilising fresh air rather than electricity, in colder months sucking in ambient air from outside the data centre via the window louvers rather than heating with energy hungry chiller units all year round.

power provided from the national grid, UpS and generators giving n+1 backup generation with 2 feeds to every rack.

lV panel – controlling the incoming power supplies, designed to be maintained without disrupting power.

gas cylinder store – the fire detection/suppression system delivers gas directly to affected areas if required.

Schneider cctV door card access , Single person mantrap.

24hr manned security.

Screens showing internal and external cctV shots, monitored both locally and at the intechnology head office.

Swipe access control.internal and external cameras.

racks are contained within a rittal cold aisle containment pod which utilises fresh air cooling.

each pod is monitored by cctV, motion detectors and fire/heat detectors.

each rack is secured by combination key locks.Highly sensitive clymac VeSda fire detection system with detector heads above the racks , underfloor, in the aisles and perimeter smoke and heat detection.

leading edge cooling and energy management technologies with Weatherite air handling units monitoring and maintaining a constant temperature between 24-26 degrees.

pressure release valves - if gas or fire detected all vents automatically close and cooling fans go in to recirculation mode.Building management system (BMS), humidity, temperature & power usage, continually monitored locally & at head office.
