Our tabling initiative has become one of the biggest succeses in fundraising for Rebuild Hi-Tor, with a great new committee headed up by Michelle Rusnock, Liz Steele, Natalie Lopez, and Andrea Doak. Profitable tabling events take place every weekend at PetSmart, Petco, Nanuet Pathmark, New City ShopRite, New City Stop & Shop, West Nyack ShopRite and Pearl River ShopRite. The tabling committee recently had their first open meeting at the Nanuet Library and many new volunteers came out. You can even see our Rebuild Chair Donald Franchino out tabling every weekend with one of his many dogs, at the Nanuet Pathmark! Tabling has always been one of our most successful ventures, but it continues to get even better as the amount of dedicated volunteers grows. It is also a great way to get the word out to the public about Rebuild Hi-Tor. Finally, it

can be one of the most rewarding aspects to volunteering, as so many people rush over to give support and put their donations into our buckets! Everyone always returns from tabling saying how much fun they had and are excited to do it again.

We’d like to give a big thank you to those volunteers who have braved the cold to man a table for two or four hours (or sometimes all day!), as well as the merchants listed above for allowing us to set up at their locations. We also wish to thank volunteer Mary Lenahan for maintaining our “Sign Up Genius” website for tabling.

We are always looking for more volunteers to table on the weekends in two hour shifts. Please visit the Sign Up Genius link found at the end of this article if you’d like to help. SUPPORTERS COME OUT FOR DINE-N-DONATE EVENTSCheck out our upcoming events advertised later in this newsletter & join the fun!

Rebuild Hi-Tor’s Dine-N-Donate events continue to raise funds and bring supporters together for good fun and great food!In the past month, we’ve had successful Dine-N-Donate events at Rocco’s in New City, Harbourside Grille in Valley Cottage and Grande Centrale in Congers.

Dine-N-Donates are held by local eating establishments on specific dates where they donate a portion of their proceeds to Rebuild

Hi-Tor. In addition, most businesses allow us to set up a small table to dispense information, collect donations and sell Rebuild t-shirts.If you have a favorite eatery and you think they’d be willing to set up a Dine-N-Donate event for Rebuild, let us know and we will publicize it on Facebook and in our newsletter! Local eateries can garner a lot of business by doing these events because we will help drive customers to their restaurants!

Come out and support Rebuild at upcoming events at Jimmy’s on Main in Nanuet, and Just Buns in Congers! (flyers on pages 9 &10).

The Wortendykes enjoyed their evening at Grand Centrale.

The Steeles, both on the Rebuild committee, enjoy good food, drinks and company on a cold night.

Hi-Tor board President Roberta bangs and super supporter Lenny Nathan enjoy a good time at Grande Centrale in Congers.

how you can help Encourage your favorite local eateries to support Rebuild Hi-Tor by having special Rebuild Days or Nights, where they will donate a portion of their proceeds on a given date to our cause. Rebuild Hi-Tor will help get the word out about these events, and promises to drive lots of traffic to our supporting businesses! What a wonderful way to bring the

community together for an amazing cause!

Rebuild hi-Tor Fundraising chair, Andy Schwartz, shares with the Rebuild Reporter the many topics discussed at the committee’s meeting on January 16th. Rebuild Chair Don Franchino started off the meeting by discussing the importance of tabling with regards to fundraising and publicity. Tabling is being done at many store locations and the need for volunteers for this important task is ongoing – find out more about how to sign up for tabling in the cover story of this issue!

The next items in queue were some upcoming events to raise funds for Rebuild. Linda Greenfield, Tom Ossa, Mark Prescott and Cal Mendelson discussed ideas for a concert, including possible venues and recruitment of musical talent. They will continue to work on this event.

alice Lenna and Kathy Medici of New City bowl and batting Cages presented the idea

of a bowling Fundraiser, with two event options. Stay tuned for more information as they continue hashing out the details.

a Walkathon is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, June 23rd at 8:30am at Rockland Lake. Fundraising Chair andy Schwartz will be heading up the details of this event.

Last, arlene Kahn spoke to the group about a radio PSa that was coordinated and written by Linda Greenfield. A television PSA is also in the works, with arlene leading a great team of Dale Kolarek and Paul borghese. Stay tuned for more information about these PSas and when you can expect to see and hear them!

Please contact Fundraising Chair andy Schwartz at [email protected] with your ideas or if you are interested in becoming a part of this committee.

Just choose a favorite local business (or two!) where you’d like to place a bucket – then collect the money on a weekly or bi-weekly basis and write a check to Hi-Tor.

Kids will love getting involved and counting the money that they helped raise! What a terrific way to help the animals who need us now more than ever.
