RECREATION GUIDE
SUMMER 2017
Dear Residents, Warm weather, sunshine, and longer days are ideal for spending more time outdoors to take advantage of our summertime program offerings. For the first time ever, our city has two outdoor parks for your recreational enjoyment! Swimming, tennis, free arts & crafts, and a small playground are available at Purvis Park. Our brand-new Community Park offers three playgrounds, adult exercise equipment, and an open field for a pick-up game of baseball, soccer, or football. For anyone who is counting their steps toward better health, a walk around the perimeter path of Community Park is .3 miles. Enjoy! New this summer is an outdoor movie night at Community Park. Bring your blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy a free family movie. Also new this summer is the opportunity to play Pickle Ball on a designated tennis court at Purvis Park. You will know the court when you see the colorful markings. Pickle Ball is growing in popularity and is a sport that can be played by all ages. The ever-popular “Touch a Truck” event is back again this summer! Your little ones will enjoy the chance to “drive” a police car, fire truck, garbage truck, and other large vehicles. Meet our safety forces and service workers, and bring your cameras for a great photo opportunity! Do not forget to take advantage of our city’s perennially favorite summertime activity, the outdoor band concerts, held on various Thursday evenings on the Hamlin Quad at John Carroll University. Enjoy a wonderful variety of music, plentiful parking, nearby restrooms, and the chance for little ones to stretch their legs on the grassy quad. It is a great evening of entertainment! Have a happy summer. Sincerely,
Susan Infeld Mayor
