Below are easy ways to help all the Youth of Turlock participate in Recreation Programs and Sports. Jump on board and get our youth out and busy!!

» SUPPORT TURLOCK RECREATION BY SHOPPINGTurlock Recreation is raising funds for youth scholarships through local grocery stores.

S.H.A.R.E.S. CARD and Raley’s Quality of Life CardA % of every grocery dollar will support youth in Turlock and help them to sign up for Recreation activities. To receive a free card or more information contact Turlock Recreation at 668-5594.

» RECREATION SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLEThe City of Turlock announces that Youth & Senior Recreation Scholarships are available through the Recreation office for participation in City of Turlock Recreation Activities. Participants must be 18 years of age or under, or 62 years of age and above, and must live within the city limits of Turlock. Once approved, applicants may receive up to $75 for the year July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012. Applications are available at the Recreation office or for more information call 668-5594.

We are seeking donations for additional Scholarships. Please contact the Recreation office for donation information.

Click on any of the numbers or letters to get detailed information and availability for that spot.Lettered areas must be reserved; numbered areas are first come first served.Park Rules: No alcohol allowed in any of the parks No amplified noise No personal barbecues No driving on the grass Bounce Houses are allowed with a permit (additional cost of $35) and only permitted with a reservation.

Broadway Park – 501 N BroadwayThere are 3 covered picnic areas to reserve. Enjoy the beautiful playground and water feature that operates during the summer months.

Crane Park – 1555 E Canal DriveCrane Park is a nice, shady park with many amenities to offer park-goers. There are 6 picnic areas that can be reserved, a newer playground area, a half basketball court, tennis courts and horseshoe pits. In addition, Crane Park caters to large group events with Area B accommodating up to 190 people.

Donnelly Park – 600 Pedras RoadThere 14 picnic areas that can be reserved, all are equipped with BBQ’s. There are two large play structures, a half basketball court, volleyball poles and a picturesque lake. No swimming or fishing allowed.

Pedretti Park Picnic Area – 2400 Tegner RoadPedretti Park is located off Highway 99. It features a large covered picnic area that seats up to 85 people. Pedretti has a nice playground, volleyball poles and several BBQ’s.

Pedretti Park Sports Complex – 2400 Tegner RoadOne of the finest softball facilities in the Central Valley, featuring 4 softball fields and 1 baseball diamond. All fields are available for rent and use for tournaments.

Gemperle Fields at Turlock Regional Sports Complex – 4545 N Kilroy RoadConveniently located off Highway 99, and with 10 soccer fields and 2 softball diamonds, the fields at the Sports Complex are perfect for tournament rentals.

Bounce House Permits Bounce houses are allowed in rented ‘lettered’ areas of the parks. Once you have rented a space and contracted with a bounce house company you must purchase a $35 Bounce House Permit. Check with our office for the names and numbers of companies that have been approved to do business with the City of Turlock. » JUNIOR LIFEGUARD I This training program is designed for those interested in learning how to respond in an aquatic emergency. This class serves as a foundation for further training and employment in lifeguarding and aquatics. This is a great opportunity for those individuals interested in working towards becoming a certified lifeguard. This program includes 3 weeks of training followed by shadow work with a certified lifeguard.Where: Pitman High School PoolAges: 12 - 15 yearsDates: July 11 – July 29 (3 weeks)Days: Monday, Wednesday & FridayTime: 12:30 - 2:00 pmFee: $76.00

» JUNIOR LIFEGUARD II This class will expand on the material from the Jr. Lifeguard I program. Participants will receive more advanced training in spinal injuries, first aid, CPR and develop fitness. » YOUTH WATER POLO I Youth ages 8 - 12 years are encouraged to sign up to learn the basic components to the game of water polo. Starting Wednesday, May 11th registration will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration can be done on-line, fax, phone, mail or in person. Fax or mail in registration must be made on the Swim Lesson Registration form found online. Please place a 1st and 2nd choice as class space is limited. » SWIM CLASS INFORMATIONCLASS LEVELS:Infant/Toddler 6 months – 2 years“Parent Participation” class requires one parent/adult in the water with each child. This is an introduction to water exploration & a time for participants to learn basic water skills. This class is not designed to teach the participants to swim independently, but to increase the comfort level of children in and around the water.

Preschool 2 – 4 yearsClass is designed as a water adjustment class, where participants will be exposed to swimming skills through songs and games.

Level 1 Water ExplorationClass is designed for children who have not participated in swim lessons before, or are not comfortable in the water. Child learns to submerge face independently and is introduced to floating and the basics of front & back crawl in a fun and supportive environment. (For students who are 5 years & older or students who are 4 years old & have passed the Preschool class.)

Level 2 Primary SkillsChild must be able to submerge face independently. Child learns to float on front and back and swim on front and back for a short distance.

Level 3 Stroke ReadinessChild must be able to swim and float independently on front and back. Child refines front crawl with rotary breathing and back crawl. They are introduced to elementary backstroke and treading water.

Level 4 Stroke DevelopmentChild must swim front crawl, back crawl and elementary backstroke for 15 yards independently in water that may be over their head. They will refine front crawl with rotary breathing, back crawl and elementary backstroke and will learn sidestroke, breaststroke and flip turns.

Level 5/6 Stroke RefinementChild must be able to swim at least 25 yards of front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke and sidestroke in deep water. Breaststroke is refined and butterfly is learned. They will also practice treading water with different kicks and flip turns.

This program will offer a variety of fun activities targeting children eligible for kindergarten this Fall – 2nd grade in a day-camp atmosphere. Enrichment activities, educational games, arts, crafts and indoor / outdoor activities geared to stimulate group and individual play will all be a part of this program. An afternoon snack will be provided everyday. If your child enrolls in morning swim lessons our staff will escort them to and from the pool. » ASES AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMThe ASES After School Program is designed to help students with homework teaches life-skills and promotes healthy lifestyles through structured recreational activities. The ASES program is for K-8th grade students who attend Brown, Crowell, Cunningham, Osborn, Turlock Jr. High and Wakefield Schools. The ASES After School program meets Monday-Friday from the time school lets out until 6:00pm. YOUTH SPORTS » KIDZ LOVE SOCCER

In this program, Kidz will learn the world’s most popular sport from professional coaches licensed in the Kidz Love Soccer method. If a customer withdraws from a class thus creating an open spot, the first person on the wait list is called to accept or decline. Class Transfers and/or Late FeeAny class changes will be charged an $8 transfer fee. After the class start date, all transfers will require instructor’s approval. If enrollment is being accepted after the class start date a $5 late fee will be added to the class fee.
