Eric is very much at home with sophisticated water quality monitoring equipment, computer mapping software, photo- documentation, and complex data entry. He is also a keen observer of plants and wildlife at study sites. He takes clear, thorough notes, and copes cheerfully with physically challenging habitat such as dense brush, deep muck, and rough terrain. I was particularly struck by his curiosity and dedication to keep expanding his knowledge; for example winter botany (twigs & buds) and macro-invertebrate identification. He particularly enjoyed taking part in several stream bioassessments (family level EPA method). He did not do very much reporting, because others were unusually efficient in that area. Because he is so observant and systematic, he was very successful in screening both terrestrial and aquatic sites for state-listed species, in particular Eastern box turtles and Eastern pearl shell mussels. Being in excellent physical condition has been helpful with projects related to invasive plant species removal; in addition to tagging & inventory, he has done mechanical control, such as cutting inflorescences and weed whacking. His well developed automotive and mechanical repair skills also come in handy. Eric is hardworking, organized and manages his time well. He is a good team player, with a good sense of humor, an honest character, a sunny disposition, and able to listen well and accurately follow instructions. Please note that Eric stopped working for us on a frequent basis, because the recession substantially reduced the amount of work coming to our offices; his work was of consistent high quality. He would very much like to resume environmental work. Aside from enjoying the outdoors, he finds it interesting. Because he is perceptive and intelligent, he grasps ecological connections, the reasons behind impairment, and the significance of the data being collected. Please feel free to contact me by phone at 203 271 1949, 203 537 1869, or 860 649 7362 or e-mail [email protected] . Sincerely, Sigrun N.
