Paying for roads: make it simple
• COVID 19 have proven that we are heading for less cash payments in real life but only if it is easier:
• From BCE study (2017): Cash is still #1 in current life transactions numbers = 79% vs 19% for credit card.
• It is stronger in Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Slovenia) and Southern Europe (Greece, Chypre, Malta)
• In Netherlands, Estonia, Finland, cash is less than 54%• Actualisation in 2019 (before COVID): Cash is still #1 in current life
transactions numbers = 73% vs 24% for credit card• Contactless payment is pushing forward as well:
• Between 2012 to 2017, Contactless payment in France multiplied by 1000!• After COVID?
