Part of activity (timing) Description Assessment Starter (5 minutes) What are special places in the different religions? - Pictures on board to support Show different special places on the board - What does this picture mean to you? How would you feel if you were there? - listen to children’s answers. Can they identify the different religious places? - Can children express their own thoughts and justify these? Main (15 minutes) Show one of our bags – each person as a characteristic from a place – explain everybody is different and we should embrace this? Bag – fill in special qualities and place into bag and make marks to show this. - Can children understand the importance of being different? - Can children identify different characteristics and explain why these are important to them? Plenary (5 minutes) With a partner explain your bag and your emotions to do with this Partner feeds back to small group about their partners place - Can children explain other peoples place and understand why these are important? Homework Children can create a video of them in their favourite place or pretending to be at their favourite place, talking about the importance of this and identify the special people they would meet their. Can children identify the significance Differentiation - Use pictures to support learners - Word bank to support vocabulary - Draw instead of write place/thoughts - Create sentences to describe the different items in their bag. Success Criteria - I can identify special places for different religions - I can describe my feelings and my peers feeling of different places - I can design, draw and describe my own special place

Follow-up LessonFollow the same lesson format, focusing on special people. Children can then create their own special personal book that can be added to throughout the year and their time primary school.
