Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion Cincinnati Skirball Museum presents REMBRANDT AND THE JEWS The Berger Print Collection MARCH 5—APRIL 30, 2017 Organized by the Westmont-Ridley Tree Museum of Art in Santa Barbara, CA, this exhibition features 22 Rembrandt etchings of Jewish and biblical subjects and a drawing by Pieter Lastman, Rembrandt’s teacher. Also on view are two Rembrandt etchings from the B’nai B’rith Klutznick Collection of the Cincinnati Skirball Museum. All programs take place on the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion Cincinnati campus. THE GOLDEN AGE OF BAROQUE MUSIC Annual Wendy Kanter Memorial Concert 4 pm in the S.H. and Helen R. Scheuer Chapel The HarmoNati Ensemble will perform music by Schmelzer, Biber, and Stradella, among other composers. Musicians will play period instruments, featuring Allison Edberg Nyquist on violin; Leela Breithaupt on traverso; Annalisa Pappano on viola da gamba; Adriana Contadino on cello; Michael Unger on harpsichord and organ; and Yaël Sénamaud on violin and viola. Reservations recommended 513.487.3098 or [email protected] PUBLIC PROGRAMS REMBRANDT’S FASCINATION WITH JUDAISM Monday, March 20, 2017 7:00 pm in Mayerson Hall Dr. Shelley Perlove, University of Michigan Professor Emeritus of Art History, and author of the award- winning book, Rembrandt’s Faith: Church and Temple in the Dutch Golden Age, will present a lecture exploring the complex relationships between Rembrandt’s art and faith, with a particular focus on the artist’s fascination with Judaism. Dr. Perlove’s lecture is presented by the Cincinnati Skirball Museum in partnership with The Mayerson JCC. Exhibition is open for viewing before and after the program. A light lunch will be served and the exhibition will be open for viewing before and after the program.
