We are using the Geo-DRM which has been provided by ESCAP environmental database.

for example- land use- ecosystem- Forest- soil- groundwater- fodder resources- province’s border- grassland- specially protected area

Disaster early warning system

Mongolian government is co-implementing South Korean communications provider KT project of Disaster Early Warning System in 2014.

Disaster Early Warning System using the GIS and satellite communication.

Dissemination of warning message using the GIS

Prevention of disaster risk using GIS

13

General structure of disaster early

warning system

When occur the disaster Early Warning System will disseminate warning messages to public automatically through TV, FM radio, siren towers, cellular phone.

1560 siren towers with satellite installed in Ulaanbaatar city. Also warning

devices installed on the Televisions and FM radios.

Challenges of using Geo-DRM

• Lack of trained officials at local level
