This has been a year of amazing accomplishments that challenged, inspired and fulfilled our Jewish Senior Services family of Residents, clients, families, volunteers and each of us committed to making a difference. So many people have been touched by the work we do – none of which would be possible without the generous contributions we receive each year from people like you.
Our goal is to provide the very best to the Residents, clients and the seniors in our community, each and every day. Every year we re-affirm our commitment to the community by actively fulfilling the legacy of our founders, growing and diversifying our established strengths, developing the talent and compassion among our staff, meeting the demonstrated needs of the seniors we serve - all with a vision toward the future.
In 2016, construction for The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus on Park Avenue was completed and together we moved Residents, staff, volunteers and programs to 4200 Park Avenue! We welcomed new Residents to the Roz and Les Goldstein Assisted Living and Memory Care Residences, officially expanding our continuum of care. Our staff continues to be on a Journey to create a climate where each and every Resident can have home as they define it.
Jewish Senior Services has committed its resources and its energies to becoming the senior care experts of choice in our community. This is evidenced by the continued growth of our community services. In 2016, we served more people living in the community than on our campus. Our innovative Senior Choice at Home® program expanded its membership and continues to help families plan for their long term care needs. Nearly 500 individuals received short term rehabilitation in our Goldstein Rehabilitation Center. The Friedman Home Care Agency continues to reach hundreds of individuals, with everything from medical care, nursing and physical therapy to live-in support or hourly assistance from our dedicated caregivers. The Chaifetz Family Hospice celebrated its fourth full year of operations. Grasmere by the Sea Adult Day Program expanded its family support groups, community outreach and transportation network to serve more people in the area. Our Institute on Aging continued to be a resource center to guide seniors and caregivers through the aging process and health care system. The Center for Elder Abuse Prevention continued its important work, through leadership of the Coalition for Abuse Prevention of the Elderly (CAPE), educating and promoting awareness about signs and symptoms of abuse, reporting requirements and available intervention resources.
Home TogetherTM – Adult Family Living and Foster Homes, our newest program, helps low-income adults stay at home through family caregiver coaching and financial support.
We recognize that we cannot do this alone – it takes a strong, vibrant community to accomplish these important tasks and we are so grateful to you, our community of committed donors. As Annual Campaign donors, Special Fund creators, benefactors of the Endowment Fund, sponsors at an event or donors to The Journey to Home Capital Campaign, your donations are vivid reminders of the difference this community makes at Jewish Senior Services. Our wonderful staff and lay leadership work tirelessly to broaden the scope of programs and to enhance existing ones.
We are thankful to the board members; co-chairs of our events and committees; the many committee members, volunteers and friends of Jewish Senior Services, the Men’s Club and the Women’s Auxiliary, for their dedicated leadership. Their continued work in the community, reaching out to donors, bringing in new dedicated leaders and spreading the word about our mission are all integral aspects of our ongoing success.
Now, in our 43rd year, we know that the future is bright because of our partnership with the community. It will be an eventful year as we face new challenges, offer innovative programs, live our mission every day and make our new home, truly HOME.

THE HARRY AND JEANETTE WEINBERG CAMPUS ON PARK AVENUE OPENS
Jewish Senior Services is deeply committed to providing the highest possible quality of life for our Residents and seniors in the
community-at-large. Over the past few years, we have researched, studied, and evaluated what this means and how it can best
be achieved. The result was our vision of a new Home at 4200 Park Avenue — one that reflects warmth, safety, and comfort;
upholds each Resident’s right to self-determination; values community; and maintains outstanding levels of care. Jewish Senior
Services opened this new “Home” in June, 2016, bringing the first Household Model of Assisted Living and nursing home care
to Connecticut!
Small groups of Residents live in a Household, with amenities they have selected themselves as well as private bedrooms and
bathrooms, an open kitchen, dining area, outdoor balcony or courtyard, and large gathering room to resemble a traditional family
home. The result is more privacy for Residents; greater freedom in how they live; a calmer, quieter homelike environment; and
additional opportunities to form quality relationships with fellow Residents, employees, and family.
The project includes 294 skilled nursing beds - including 28 dedicated to short term rehabilitation - designed in 14 bedroom
Houses. The campus has 18 Assisted Living one-bedroom apartments and 14 Assisted Living Memory Care studios in the Roz and continued

Les Goldstein Residences. The campus also offers our adult day program, outpatient therapy, child development center, creative
arts studio, work activity center, salon, clinic, and all of our community services offices. Common areas include our synagogue
and Bennett Hall, the multi-purpose room that can accommodate up to 330 guests, the kosher Courtyard Café, and The J
Fitness Center, an 18,000 square foot health club, all available to the Residents, family members, volunteers, employees, and the
community-at-large. The Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County houses its offices and various programs, as
well as Jewish Family Services and Merkaz, on the third floor. Construction was completed in June 2016, and all of the Residents
on Jefferson Street moved in! We are actively piecing together the space to create our new home and are forming a waiting list for
Assisted Living now.
We are proud of Jewish Senior Services’ tradition of caring and compassion for the past 40+ years and are thrilled with this possibility
to transform the way Skilled Nursing care and Assisted Living are offered to our precious elders. Come visit us in our new home!
