THE Starlight Children’s Foundationwill benefit from an auction of a multiaward-winning home in Seville Grovethis month.
Jade Projects, the builder of thethree-bedroom, two-bathroom home,has agreed to donate $6000, or anymoney raised above the reserve price,from the sale of the property at 70Verdant Crescent, to the foundation.
The property has been awarded the2009 HIA Greensmart Water Effic-iency Award, Energy Efficiency Awardand The Project Home of the YearAward. Its sustainable features includefour-star water fixtures, photovoltaicsolar panels, rainwater tanks, grey-water reticulation system, passive solarorientation, universal access and waterwise gardens.
Starlight’s State manager WarrenMahoney welcomed the initiative,saying it was a great example of howthe corporate sector could help aworthy charity.
“Each Starlight wish costs about$6000 and we have more than 50children on the waiting list,” he said.
“A Starlight wish is like a dreamcome true for a seriously ill child orteenager and sharing a special, once-in-a-lifetime wish brings a family together,culminating in an experience that stayswith them forever.”
Jade Projects general manager JasonJannsen said the company was proud tobe helping children in need.
“These donations ensure that illchildren get every possible means ofsupport to improve their lives,” hesaid.

First-home buyers’ market share hits a record 28 per cent THE percentage of first-homebuyers in the property market hasswelled to the highest level onrecord, new data shows.
First-home buyer propertiesnow make up 28 per cent of alldwellings financed, which is thelargest proportion recorded since
the Australian Bureau of Statisticsbegan collecting the data in 1991.
The number of housing loanapprovals rose by 0.9 per cent inApril, the seventh monthly rise in arow. The value of home loan app-rovals was up by almost 2 per cent.
The average size of the first-
home buyers’ loan eased slightly to$283,400, from almost $286,000.
First-home buyers have beenflocking to the market , buoyed by aboost to the Federal Government’sfirst-home owners grant to $14,000for existing homes.
First-home buyers opting for a
newly-built house can claim up to$21,000 in government grants.
The boost to the grant wasoriginally intended to end at theend of this month, but thanks tochanges in the Budget it will becontinued in full until October 1.From then, it will be halved to
$10,500 for existing homes, and$14,000 for new homes. The boostwill end on December 31.
