RESPONSEWARE FOR PRESENTERS

About ResponseWareResponseWare turns a participant’s web-enabled device into a virtual clicker. Participants are able to respond to pollingquestions using aWi-Fi or data connection.

Compatible with TurningPoint 5 and TurningPoint Cloud, ResponseWare allows the user to respond tomultiple styles ofquestions, such as multiple-choice, alphanumeric, multiple response and essay questions. Questions and answer choices aredisplayed on the web-enabled device while polling is open.

Technical RequirementsResponseWaremust meet certain system andmobile requirements tomaximize its optimal performance.

System Requirements

The following are required for ResponseWare to properly function:

l Stable internet connectionl Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 or 11l Mozilla Firefox 28 or higherl Google Chrome 33 or higherl Safari 6 or higherl TurningPoint 5 PC orMac - 5.0 or higherl TurningPoint Cloud

Mobile Requirements

The following are required for ResponseWare to properly function:

l Internet access viaWi-Fi (recommended for optimal performance) or data connectionl A mobile web browser

WARNINGYoumay be charged by your wireless provider if you do not have an unlimited data plan. TurningTechnologies is NOT responsible for any cellular usage charges.

ResponseWare and Turning AccountA Turning Account Username and password is required to sign in to TurningPoint Cloud or to sign in to ResponseWare inTurningPoint 5. A Turning Account can be created at no cost. The Turning Account secure sign in and file encryption ensuresthat data is safeguarded in TurningPoint Cloud.

Creating a Turning AccountA Turning Account is a unique identifier that is used to tie together all software accounts and response devices. A TurningAccount is required for use with TurningPoint Cloud and ResponseWare.

1 Go to https://account.turningtechnologies.com/.2 Click Create Account.

TheSign Up page is displayed.3 Enter your email address and click Next.

IMPORTANTIt is strongly recommended that you use your school email address.

A verification email will be sent to the email address you provide.4 Check your email and click the link to verify your Turning Account.

NOTEIf you did not receive the verification email, click theResend Verification button in TurningAccount.

5 Enter all required fields as noted by the asterisks on theProfile page.a From theRole drop-downmenu, select Instructor.

6 Select the box labeled I accept the Terms of Use and click Create account.The Dashboard is displayed.

ResponseWare for Presenters

Using ResponseWare in TurningPoint CloudWARNINGA Turning Account license is mandatory for participants. If a participant does not purchase a TurningAccount license, his or her score will show as an asterisk in all TurningPoint Cloud participant reports.Furthermore, his or her score will export as "0" to an Excel workbook and will not be exported to an LMS.

Enabling ResponseWare in TurningPoint CloudResponseWaremust be enabled for participants to use ResponseWare as a response device.

1 Open TurningPoint Cloud.The Turning Account window opens.

2 Enter your Turning Account Username and password.3 Click Sign In.

The TurningPoint Cloud Dashboard opens.4 Click Click to Connect in the upper right corner of the TurningPoint Dashboard.

TheResponseWare Sign Inwindow opens.

5 If connecting through a proxy server (PC only):a Click theProxy Settings icon.

TheProxy Settings window opens.

b Select Automatically detect proxy settings orManuallyconfigure proxy settings.Manually configure proxy settings requires the proxy server addressand port number to be entered in the boxes provided.

c If required, enter theAuthentication Information in the fieldsprovided.

d Click Test to test the connection to the proxy server.e Click Save to save the settings and close the proxy settings

window.

6 Click Sign In.TheResponseWare Sessionwindow opens.

7 Optionally, click Session Options to configure participant settings. TheSession Options window opens.Adjust the session options as necessary and click Save.

NOTESaved changes made inSession Options will remain the same for all future sessions untilmanually changed. Click Restore Defaults to revert all options back to their original state.

IMPORTANTSession options cannot be changedmid-session.

Require Participant Accounts - Place a check in the box next to this option to require participants to have licensedaccounts to be able to respond. If the box remains unchecked, participants who do not have a Turning Account canparticipate as guests. This option is only available if you have a Concurrent license applied to your Turning Account.The number of guests cannot exceed the capacity of the license.

NOTEA Concurrent licensemay be purchased from a Turning Technologies Account Executive. Formore information about the Concurrent license, contact [email protected].

Participant Session Login Information - First Name, Last Name, User ID and Email can be set toOptional, RequireorDon't Show.

l If set toRequire, participants will be prompted to enter the required fields prior to joining the session.l If set toOptional, participants will be prompted to enter the optional fields but can join the session withoutentering the information.

l If set to Don't show, participants will not be prompted to enter the optional fields and the fields will not appear inTurningPoint Cloud reports.

Participant Messaging - Presenters can configure themessaging feature so that participants canmessage thepresenter and all other participants, the presenter only or disable messaging.

l Participants may message presenter and all participants - A participant can choose tomessage thepresenter alone or the presenter and all participants in the session.

l Participants may message the presenter only - A participant can send direct messages to the presenter.l Disable participant messaging - Participant messaging is disabled, however presenters retain the ability tomessage the group or individual participants.

Participant Question Display - Presenters determine how the question is displayed to participants.

l Display text, images, and content to participants - Displays the questions and answer choices, as well asimages and content up to 1MB of data per question.

l Display response buttons only - Does not display the question and answer choices, only the response buttonsassociated with the answer choices.

IMPORTANTQuestions containingmore than 1MB of data display as the response buttons only.

8 Optionally, select theSession ID from the drop-downmenu. If Random is selected, a Session ID will be randomlygenerated. To reserve a unique Session ID, seeReserving the Session ID on page 8.

9 Click Start Session.TheResponseWare Session Status window opens.

10 Click Close to return the TurningPoint Dashboard.TheResponseWare Session Status window does not need to be open for ResponseWare to be enabled.ResponseWare will remain enabled until TurningPoint Cloud is closed or until End Session is selected from theResponseWare Session Status window.

11 Select eitherPowerPoint Polling orAnywhere Polling from the TurningPoint Cloud Dashboard.

NOTEIt is possible to switch between polling environments without logging out of the currentResponseWare session. Participants do not need to log out and join a new session.

Next Steps

Provide participants the Session ID to join the session.

Reserving the Session IDWhen joining a ResponseWare Session, participants are prompted to enter a Session ID. Session IDs are randomly generatedby Turning Technologies software each time ResponseWare is enabled. Reserving a Session ID allows users to specify theirown unique Session ID.

NOTEYou can reserve up to 10 unique Session IDs.

7 Enter a uniqueSession ID in the session ID field.Session IDs must be between 4 and 14 alpha or numeric characters, but must contain at least one letter; e.g.,PSYCH101.

8 Click Reserve.The Reserved Session ID is displayed.

9 Click Start Session.

Using ResponseWare in TurningPoint 5

Enabling ResponseWare in TurningPoint 5ResponseWaremust be enabled for participants to use ResponseWare as a response device.

Prerequisites

A Turning Account Username and password is required to sign in to ResponseWare in TurningPoint 5. For more information oncreating a Turning Account, see .

WARNINGPreviously created ResponseWare accounts will require the password to be reset. Go tohttps://account.turningtechnologies.com and click Forgot your password? to reset.

1 Open TurningPoint.The TurningPoint Dashboard opens.

2 Click Click to Connect in the upper right corner of the TurningPoint Dashboard.TheResponseWarewindow opens.

3 Enter your Turning AccountUsername and password in the appropriate fields.Optionally, place a check in the box to remember your sign in information.

4 If connecting through a proxy server (PC Only):a Check the box next to 'I connect to the internet through a proxy server.'b Click on theSettings icon to configure the proxy settings.

TheProxy Settings window opens.c Select Automatically detect proxy settings orManually configure proxy settings.d If required, enter theAuthentication Information in the fields provided.e Click Test to test the connection to the proxy server.f Click Save to save the settings and close the proxy settings window.

5 Choose one of the followingParticipant Options:l Allow Guests - Allow participants who do not have a ResponseWare account to attend the session.l Require Login - Requires participants to login to the session with their ResponseWare credentials.

Optionally, select Do not prompt participants to enter user information. If checked, participants will not beprompted to enter their user information prior to joining the session

Optionally, enter aReserved Session ID if one is saved within your ResponseWare account. If a Reserved Session IDis not entered, a Session ID will be randomly generated.

IMPORTANTPreviously Reserved Session IDs will be valid. New Reserved Session IDs can only be createdin TurningPoint Cloud.

6 Click Login.TheResponseWare Session ID window opens.

7 Click Close.

NOTEThe ResponseWare Session ID window does not need to be open for ResponseWare to beenabled. ResponseWare will remain enabled until TurningPoint 5 is closed or until Logout isselected from theResponseWare Session ID window.

8 Select eitherPowerPoint Polling orAnywhere Polling from the TurningPoint Dashboard.
