John 1:1…”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

He didn’t have to come to earth, but He did. He didn’t have to go through what He went through, but He did. He didn’t have to die on the cross, but He did. And He did it all, out of love for you.

This Christmas, as we celebrate Jesus’ birth, don’t forget to thank Him for the cross.

Merry Christmas to you from the Williams family!

Bro. Chris

I want to pause and say “Thank You” to our choir and our accompanists. For all the hard work and dedication you have given to making a “Night of Hope” a tremendous blessing and sacrifice. A special word of thanks to our accom-panists for your tireless work in preparing for this musical. We are blessed as a church to have such talented and committed musicians. As we move forward into our Advent Season, this week is the focus of “love.” Without Christ, we wouldn’t even understand real love. I try to love Ann unselfishly but I fail so many times. Yet, Jesus came to earth and showed us a special kind of love. A love that is unselfish and unconditional. He loves us in all of our faults and imperfections and invites us into a relationship with Him that is so one-sided. It’s about what He can do for us not what we can do for Him. And He grows us. This love takes us as we are and where we are and lifts us farther than we could ever go on our own merits and abilities. But He gives us this love so that we can display His love in our own life. And not because of who we are or what we can do but because His love is changing us to be more like Him. I love the way the New Living Translation puts John 13:35, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” It’s the trade-mark of Jesus. God is love. If we know God and love God, we begin to be changed in our lives to love like God. Not because of our striving but because of our yielding. The more we yield to God, the more we love like God. So, the question is: “are you showing the love of God in your life? Is it something that people can see?” Let our love shine before our family, our co-workers, and everyone we meet so they will see our Lord and Savior! Randy
