Dear Rollins Alumnus,

Each spring, hundreds of alumni return to our beautiful campus to celebrate their connection to this very special college. Renewing relationships, savoring memories and enjoying the bonds of the Rollins experience make Reunion an extraordinary time.

Congratulations to the classes celebrating milestone reunions this year, as well as Chi Omega, soccer and tennis alumni, who are observing affi nity reunions. Reunion volunteers and alumni staff are hard at work to ensure that your Reunion will salute your unique Rollins ties.

As we turn the page on our 125th Anniversary year, we look forward to having you join us in 2011 as Rollins’ proud legacy continues. Alumni are a vital part of the College—the alumni spirit enriches our thriving community. We hope to see you this March for what promises to be a memorable and refreshing reconnection with your alma mater.

The Edge of Vision: Abstraction in Contemporary PhotographyExploring the value of photographs in today’s visual culture, this exhibit features photographs and photo-based installations many of which are on display for the fi rst time. Some of the themes being explored include pattern and optical uncertainty, our culture of images, and recording the action of light without the benefi ts or limits of a lens.

Piety and Magnifi cence: Themes in Italian Art circa 1300-1750Conceptualized as a progressive educational experiment in conjunction with the Department of Art and Art History at Rollins College, this show intends to reintroduce CFAM as a teaching museum of note. Some of the Cornell’s most treasured masterpieces will be on display, featuring a selection of works ranging from the Italian Renaissance to the mid-18th century.

Remix 2The photography show will include “How to Hunt” and “Strude” by Nicolai Howalt and Trine Søndergaard. “How to Hunt” symbolizes the relationship between humans and nature and examines the hunt as a classical art theme. “Strude” is the name of a mask-like garment worn by women on the Danish island of Fano. The piece explores the island’s culture and how folk costume can communicate cultural meaning and codes. Led by Bruce A. Beal Director Scott Habes and Intern Kellyn Biella, this exhibit also explores themes in African American art through the work of Chakaia Booker.
