Hello everyone. I enjoy writing my column for the parish bulletin because it gives me a chance to express my thoughts and to continue to lead us all in the “Unleash the Gospel Movement.” My Sunday homilies and my column give you a little more material to reflect upon. Be thoughtful people and make a strong effort to care for spirituality. For that side of you, that makes you also a spiritual being able to love, care, and forgive. After Easter and during this Season of Easter, we can appreciate more deeply the miracle of the Resurrection, become more joyful and share the joy with one another. Today, we can be happier because ten children are receiving for the first time Holy Communion. It is their first encounter with Eucharistic Jesus. At the Last Supper, before His death on the cross, Jesus made the intention to stay with us in the Eucharist. Since that time, we are receiving Him. Congratulations students of our parish. May Eucharistic Jesus be for you, the Way, the Truth and the Life. God Bless,

Fr. Bogdan

A Weekend of Discovery, a Lifetime of Love Learn the tools needed to keep your marriage strong

Worldwide Marriage Encounter is the largest pro-marriage organization in the world and promotes weekend experiences for couples who want to make their good marriage even better. It's not a retreat, nor a marriage clinic, nor group sensitivity. It's a unique approach aimed at revitalizing Christian Marriage. This is a time for you and your spouse to be alone together, to rediscover each other and together focus on your relationship for an entire weekend. Every marriage deserves that kind of attention!

Weekends are for Catholic priests and religious too! Your commitment to serve the people of God is a vocation and relationship at the service of communion. Weekend tools can help you see your ministry in a whole new light and connect more meaningfully with those you serve.

Join the 2019 Public Square Rosary Crusade

The world is at a historic crossroad. God is more offended than ever as people ignore Our Lady’s maternal request to “stop offend-ing God.” Yes, we must listen to Our Lady’s request. He will hear us, if we pray through the intercession of His Blessed Mother. That’s why we’re doing the 2019 Public Square Rosary Crusade. What: The Holy Rosary Where: Gratiot & Utica (near Sacred Heart Church) When: Saturday, May 11, 2019 at noon For more information, contact Beth Penxa and Bob Reyes at (586) 336-0077.

Coordinated nationally by Tradition, Family and Property and its America Needs Fatima campaign. For questions or comments, email us at [email protected]. Visit our website at www.ANF.org

Philippine Mission Trip Dinner

Gabby and Gio Bagtas (St Faustina’s altar servers) will be going on a mission trip to Banaue, Philippines with nine (9) other youths from Michigan-based Filipino community – Christ’s Ardent Disciples in Action – and fellow youths from sister community in the Philippines – Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon (The Joy of the Lord). In 2017, Gabby joined the Kairos Mission Trip to Agua Prietas in Mexico, where they spent a lot of time in practical service: home construction, painting, etc., as well as serving people in an orphan-age and sharing their faith with local people. This time, it will still be serving those who are in need. Basically, making themselves available to the Lord and His people to do whatever needs to be done. The main goals of this Mission trip this summer are: (1) To grow in their relationship with God as they serve Him and serve others (2) To grow in their relationship with one another (youths from US and Philippine communities) (3) To serve the poor and under-privileged in the Municipality of Banaue, in the Ifugao Province, and (4) To work alongside farmers and learn and witness how rice – staple food of the Philippines – is cultivated We would like to invite our St Faustina family to join us for a Philippine Mission Trip Dinner on May 18th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm to benefit Gabby and Gio Bagtas and help fund their trip to the Philippines. We will be serving a variety of Philippine dishes and desserts. Dinner will be served from 5:00 pm to about 7:30 pm. We will be selling Advance tickets after every Mass. $8 – Adults (13 y/o and above) $6 – children (6 y/o – 12 y/o) FREE – children (5 y/o and below) Regular ticket prices (May 13th till day of event) $10 – Adults (13 y/o and above) $7 – children (6 y/o – 12 y/o) FREE – children (5 y/o and below) You may also stop by the St Faustina Parish office to purchase tickets. Entertainment will be provided by our very own Gabby Bagtas. Bring cash for 50/50 raffle. Doors will be open until 7:30 pm. We are looking forward to seeing you at our Philippine Mission Trip Dinner. Thank you in advance for your support! God Bless! ~Bagtas family

We meet the fourth Sunday of each month at St. Hubert’s in Harrison Township. “Come and See!” Inquiry Meeting on May 19, 2019. Please call in advance. Contact Margaret at (586) 764-5128.

Stewardship Thoughts

Growing Faith...Engaging Hearts

Congratulations to all of the second grade students who celebrated their First Holy Communion! I am very proud of them for all of their hard work in preparing for this special Sacrament. I hope they will continue their enthusiasm to learn more about the Catholic faith, keep God in their lives and continue their faith journey. Thank you to their parents for bringing them to class, to the extra sacramental workshops, and to Mass. Keep up the good work! Thank you to Lena Kraft, the second grade catechist, who did a great job preparing the students. We are trying to identify all of our first grade students for registration for the 2019-2020 religious education class. First grade is a required pre-requisite for the second grade Sacraments of First Reconciliation and Eucharist. If you have a current kindergartener, please stop by the Religious Education Office. You can also call me at 586-773-9220 or send an email to [email protected] for class and registration information. Monday, May 6th is our last religious education class for this school year. Classes will resume in September. If you did not receive a registration form for the 2019-2020 classes last week, please pick one up when you drop off your child on May 6th. God Bless, Sandy Acord

Discipleship connects today’s Scripture passages. In the Acts of the Apostles, Peter and his followers bravely witness Christ to the Sanhedrin. Privileged and honored to suffer for Jesus’ name, they profess: We must obey God rather than men. They are not afraid of the price of discipleship, regardless of the cost. In the Book of Revelation, the angels praise the worthiness of the Lamb with honor and glory. St. John, in his Gospel, retells Jesus’ post-Resurrection question-ing of Peter. Christ asks Peter three times if he loves Him - some believe for each time Peter denied Jesus before His Passion and death. Peter responds with “yes” each time. Our invitation to discipleship begins at Baptism. We deepen our discipleship when we accept Christ’s call to a personal relationship with Him, which begins the conversion process of mind to heart - making stewardship a way of life. The power of the Holy Spirit strengthens us to proclaim Christ and follow Him.
